Hi Guys

I'm thinking of getting a combined GPS/ Radar-Laser detector. Does anyone have any experience of the Snooper S6R Neo? I notice that the actual radar/laser detector unit is quite bulky, so I'd probably install it in the air scoop just below the number plate. It would be more descrete and the makers claim it's weather proof.

A customer of mine has just had the Neo fitted above the bumper like you said. No probs with it at all, so no need to worry on that front.

 

He is very happy with the unit as well, although it can be very hit and miss & over sensitive.

How cheap ?

Apparently the Road Angel and the Orbital O2 are the Daddies at the moment. Bit pricey though at around £350- £400 + prescription.

Slightly off topic but was reading an interesting article in one of the Sunday papers the other week about a "laser jammer" device made by a company called Comtech. Apparently the "laser unit" fits just inside the front grille, all that is visible is a slightly protruding piece of black plastic about the size of a 2p coin. When the jammer senses the pulses of infra red light sent out by a police laser speed gun the jammer senses it and sends out its own more powerful blast of infra red pulses on the same wavelength. Simultaneously a light on the dashboard warns the driver to slow down. The police gun is confused by the new laser source and cannot calculate the cars speed leaving the policeman with only an "error" reading.

 

Its sold as a device to "open automatic garage doors" (which coincidentally operate on the same wavelength) to circumvent any legal issues. Apparently the device, called the Target LRC 100 is on sale in the UK now for £349...sounds damn interesting to me! ;)

I was up at Snooper yesterday fitting a few bits and pieces to their demo car. I also did a set of laser diffusers for them (their own SLD920x)

When i finished i wanted to try them out and as luck would have it they had a laser gun on site!

 

So sent the driver up the road and zapped him, aiming at the number plate and got nothing, took about 10 secs to actually get a reading which i did by aiming at the headlight. However the buzzer in the car gave the driver plenty of time to slow down to legal limit.

 

If you are interested and there are enough i can get them down on price. I think they are retailing at the moment around the £350-£375 mark, i can get them around the £240 inc postage for upto 10 units, £230 upto 20 then i can really screw them down if there are more than that!!

 

S6 i can do for £295.00, or if you want the S6 Neo, (same but with laser detector) £395.00

Only S6R neo does lazer detection so how does a S6 (non Lazer) on a group buy work out to be dearer than the S6R with lazer :confused:

See what Halfords sell them for and tell me it`s not a discount. Go ahead and get one of Ebay but see what happens if you have a problem with it. I am a dealer for Snooper so isn`t peace of mind worth paying exactly the same price for !!

Whats wrong with RA m8 ?

Nothing as far as i know, but there are that many about i just stick with what i know works. I have an S6 and diffusers on my Skyline and they do the job so thats what i sell. If i get a Road Angel as a freebie and it works then i`ll sell that.

jus fitted s6r to mine, works very well when it keeps satelite link, seems to drop out at random, atmospherics?? or maybe need to reposition gps aerial
