I've been trying to replace my clutch today. Exhaust came off easily, so did the starter, managed to remove all the bolts out off the bell housing as well. I've now spent 3 f**king hours trying to wiggle the gearbox out...and i've brought it to the edge of the fly wheel. What the f**k have i missed? I'm following the tt.net guide on clutch replacement but the gearbox just won't come off. Is it better to disconnect everthing and take the gearbox out or it it just a case off wiggling some more? Should i have the gearbox dropped down on the jack or should i try to pull it off level? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Stu.

You want to pull it off fairly straight obviously, but u might need to drop it due to the top of the bell housing being cought. If i were you i'd pull hard, if no go, lower a cm and pull hard again etc.

I cant remember but i might have use a big screw driver between the engine and bell houseing and levered it out, just be a bit careful.

Also u think this is the hard bit, try getting it back on!

If the gearbox can move then I believe you remove all the bolts.

Now to remove it completely (come out from the flywheel) you have to lift it up a little and then pull it out.

But dont it alone. Use a car lifter or something so you dont drop the gearbox

Stu.

try tilting the engine with a jack under it to give a better angle.
