Oh dear

Manual v Auto ;)

That is a no no no no no no no no area.

They both perform exactly the same. One you change the gear yourself and you have more control over it, but driving in traffic is a pain,

The other will change gear quicker but you have little choice of when it changes. If you drive in traffic a lot an Auto may be better for you.

will a auto box have a better engine than a manual as you cant rev the engine so hard???? i dont sit in traffic much but i know from the jag i had it can get a bit boring to drive after a while as you never change gear and if on motorway you have crusie control.

I think the Manual and Auto cams are different. Do the Manual ones stay open slightly longer?

The Auto turbos are also slightly smaller. But not much

manual box you can redline but auto have a cut of switch to tell it to change gear i think??? iam not big on auto so not shaw how they work thats why i put a post up to see if ive got nothing to worry about. as there are lots of autos around with big bhp i just need a veiw if they are ok.

The auto box is a very complicated system. If will change gear when it is best, and I think if you floor it, it will change gear at red line.

AUTO!

FACT! ;)

I dont think its true that autos wont be redlined as much - as soon as you stomp on the gas, it throws you down upto 2 gears and redlines each if you keep the throttle open.

There is only ONE answer, drive both and then decide.

I wanted a manual but an auto came up in a condition I couldn't refuse. Get busy with looking at as many as possible.

Is that 2 answers? ;)

Yeah I agree - IMO find the car in the best condition regardless of transmission :)

Why does everyone seem to think an auto will just change gear when it feels like it and not when you want it to?

If they were this bad do you think most Z's would have been made with auto's just to spoil the car and generally piss people off?

Have none of you manual drivers noticed that it has a lever that you can move by hand?!?!

I hardly ever just put it in drive unless I was letting the car warm up or cruising on the motorway.

Chris.

Yeah good point Chris - except I use drive all the time (for moving :D...forwards :D:D )

However you get to know exactly when it'll change gear, and slight right foot movements can change the gear up/down 1/down2 when you want anyway.

if you like changing gear so much why didn't you get a manual:rofl:

Plus an auto with a ALC will increase the top rpm by about 300rpm through the gears:D but thats prob not the answer to your question, try both either one will be fast enough;)
