Don't mean to piss on those flames but I saw a vid on the Thai 300 site where they had a drag day against the GTO club and the score was about 8 - 2 to the GTO's!

You do realise you will be playing catch up all the time? You WILL be owned from the line, stock or not.

 

S'funny, I never see a 300ZX when I go to Santa Pod in my 3000GT.

 

I notice a lack of 1/4 times shown on these forums? Dare to compare? Our current club record is 12.3 @115, but bear in mind people have only really just started to add things like FMIC's and fuel computers to our cars just this year.

 

My best times in my UK 3000GT are 13.4 @101mph @.8bar and 13.2 @103mph @1.1bar (but knock count was high) - all before any fuelling mods and my new clutch. stock exhaust, all 3 cats still fitted.

 

What have you?

 

It's all in the spirit of competition, win-or-lose we should just chill out, learn a little about the cars, and have a few drinks after.

Are we talking about the same Santa Pod here?? I dont often miss one, AdamR is often there too, and there's always 2 or 3 more zeds.

 

Best time is 13.517s at 106.23mph. Intake, Chip, Exhaust, 12psi boost (stock is 9), ALC. Only had one (trouble free :D ) run with the increased boost and chip tho, so that 13.4 of yours should be doable ;)

That would be Santa Pod off J15 M1, yes.

 

You'll have to do a lot better than 13.4!

 

My best is 13.219 @103mph at 1.1bar, but with huge amounts of knock and timing retard (hence the low trap speed)... and mine is not one of the most modded cars!

Nice time there mate...but surely running high enough boost to get detonation isn't reeeeeally strictly comparative :D

 

Anyone can wind up the boost and have a faster car ;) I'm running a safe amount of boost with stock intercoolers etc, for reliability - half the winning is being able to drive home at the end of the day :D

 

Damn I need that boost controller :D:D

I dont know how they worked out who won, because a number of times the time on the Z came up first so it crossed the line first.

1.1bar was locked into the boost controller when I first took ownership of the car, but when I got a logging system and realised what was going off (shock horror!) I soon dropped the boost down!

Now I run at a lowly 0.8 bar (11psi) with no knock and ran the 13.4, till I get my fuel mods fitted (when my bloody spark plugs arrive, grr!)

Not sure that would work. Would be something of a foregone conclusion at a 600bhp modded motor would destroy a 300bhp stock motor.

We need to see adrenaline pumping stuff like the big players going head to head, and the stock motors battling it out.

Close? Close? I'm hoping for low 12's/11's by next year! I'm looking at Water Injection or NOS as an immediate solution to cooling the boost charge and upping the boost - the stock turbo's I have at the moment are good for about 17psi, after that is when I need the expensive stuff.

 

I'll make sure I put a nice sticker in my back window for you to look at on the horizon. :D

Just looking though, 13.5 is a good time with an Auto Box! Are manual Z's fewer in numbers than the Auto's? like the Supra scene?

Probably about 80% of Zs are Automatics

so who else is up for the stop over after the rolling road, and then this the next day?
