OK it looks like its time for you all to have a laugh..

Went to use reverse and all I got was a metalic klonk and nothing.

Any one know if the box is dead or can it be fixed

Well if you have checked the level of the fluid.

Then I think you are looking at either an auto ECU problem, but then I'm not sure if you would get the noise in reverse.

 

Worst case senario is a rebuild, but I would also get your Torque convertor changed as well as apparently these are weak points on the early models.

ive had two do that both have

needed rebuilding
