Probably predictable responses from this one, but let's see..

I have in the past owned 2 300zx's, the first in 2001 (a silver 1990 TT that I paid £6500 for) that drove like a dream until I realised that the 0-60 time was not really meant to be executed on wet roads and wrapped the car round a tree.

Earlier this year, with my limited budget of £3500, I bought a 300zx N/A. I bought that with a power steering problem that I wasn't able to (nor was Jeff at Zedworld, Western Auto power steering etc) rectify. The car was standard, and well, just wasn't that fast.

I am currently driving a (very reliable) Escort 1400, that I bought for a few hundred quid to use as a run around whilst saving for my next 'decent' car. The budget will be £6000 with an intended purchase date of January/February 2004.

As you have probably guessed, I have narrowed it down to a 300zx or a Supra non-turbo.

The Supra SZ has a 0-60 time of 6.5-6.7 (dependent on auto, 5 or 6 speed) without any mods whilst the 300zx has a 0-60 time of 5.7 seconds??

The Supra is more reliable, but the 300zx doesn't seem to age as well or be as strong???

I have noticed that a hell of alot of ZX owners are now selling up.

Is it possible that all but the later cars, are not ageing particularly well??

I used to be into Porsche 944's a few years, back, and remember a time when they went from the best value bargain basement sports car to the point where they had reached their sell by date, and can now be bought for £1500. Is it possible that this is what is happening to the ZX? I HOPE NOT!! It is the best car that I have ever had!! (also owned a GTO!!)

How much of a problem are ageing turbos in 300zx's?? We all know about the problems with auto gearboxes, but you don't really want to be paying out thousands for new major components.

Anyway, I'm just looking for opinions as to the best car to go for (pros and cons), in terms of reliability, overall performance, image, running costs etc etc

I await your comments...

For starters insurance on the zed is cheap bacause it is a classic (+-£500-£600)fully comp, now i dont know how much will insurance be on a supra. maybe money for insurance are not a isue for you but for me it makes the diference, apart from all the potential there is in the Z, for me persionaly this is simply the best (Z)  :slap:
