I can't seem to work out why my cars a bleeper! Its a '90 TT Jap Import 2+0, Whenever the car comes to a near standstill, it beeps once softly (quite similar to the lights on warning beep). It doesnt matter if I am in drive, or neutral, or whether I am braking or coasting to a standstill, at about 3mph I get the single beep. Nissan who just serviced it (and kindly removed £700 from my bank account) looked at me daftly and told me that as it was an import, no-one could tell them what it meant. Does anyone else have this dammed annoying beep? And if so, how did you stop it???

Hi Chris and welcome to the insanity that is the 300zx.co.uk forums.

Sounds like the speed-limit alarm, Jap. Imports have annoying beeping alarms for all sorts of things. Most people disconnect them asap! Danny is your main man as he's been having the same problems recently, Eric(Lymon) helped Dan disconnect one or two of these stupid gizmos!

Hey Chris, couple of questions matey, I noticed from your profile that you're in the Luton area. I work in Stevenage and have to go to Luton a couple of times a week to my bank. I've seen a few 300's in the area, you're not a silver jobby by any chance are yer?

Also, Cymru? Whereabouts in de Wales mate are you maybe from???

I live just outside Caernarfon but soon to be moving to Anglesey.

The chime for the headlights and maybe some of the other stuff too, is under the hood that covers the speedo etc. Just remove the two screws, pop it off and you'll be able to see it there.

Hi Chris,

Welcome to the Z club! My Zed (silver '90 TT 2+2 import) had that horrible chime everytime I hit 62mph. Drove me absolutely mad as I use my car as a daily drive between London and Birmingham (i.e., motorway speeds et al). I'm not sure if you're "beeps" are coming from the same place as mine were but it is worth a try to remove the speed indicator beep - perhaps that gets rid of yours as well. This is what you do: remove to top bit of the speedo binacle by removing two screws located underneath the top-plate. Lift of the black cover and you'll be able to see a wire with a connector on it (holding two ends of wire together). Unplug this, wrap electrical tape around both ends (so that it can never cause a short circuit) and put the cover back on. This will get rid of the nasty 62mph beeps and hopefully your beeps as well.

If you need more help sorting your car out let me know - as I'm down in London a lot I can easily stop by one afternoon.

Cheers matey!

Danny
