I have the 10 Disc CD multi changer control panel under the arm rest, but I don't seem to have the changer itself.

Where should it be and can I hook up a third party one?.

Cheers.

My Z never came with the original units but I'm pretty sure you got a separate tape and single CD player in the dash.

Sounds like yours was added afterwards.

It is a Sony one and looks factory fitted to me. It's even got some veneer on it, so I would definatley say factory fit.

Cheers.

My changer was in the boot, and had the controller under the arm rest like yours.

Thanks Dave. I have had a look in the boot but found nothing, so I think it has been taken out at some point . What side is yours on (as you look into the boot).

Left hand side in the corner towards the rear of the car. It was sitting on a wooden board (that sat under the carpet) that had 4 longish bolts on it. Those bolts went up through the carpet and the CD changer sat on top of the carpet, bolted to the board.

It's quite a big changer, so you'd probably know if you had one! ;)

The other alternative is to try and follow the cables from the arm rest. On mine they came out under the carpet to the rear of the arm rest, under the rear seat and through under the carpet into the boot.

I've still got mine (I think) if you want to put it all back together, although it does tend to jam if you put a CD into slot 10!

I'm not sure I'd bother though as it's an FM unit. i.e. the CD player broadcasts on an FM frequency which the head unit picks up, so quality won't be top notch.

I have the control unit too. People have told me it's not factory fitted but I really thought it was. Too neat to be aftermarket I thought. If a few people have the same box in the same place then surely it is factory fitted?

I still have the control box in the central console, but the changer has been replaced (so I too have a spare lying around if anyone needs it). The changer was in the left corner of the boot too, mounted through the carpet on a metal plate with four long bolts. All industrial strength.

I had a set of bose speakers which caused a lot of grief as they didn't work properly and had integral amplifiers. The speakers sound quite good now they have been rewired, but they really surprised everyone who saw them (expecting 6x4s in the back). They are in a moulded plastic case with sound deadening material and neat wiring. NOT easy to replace however.

I got one too but im missing the cartridge that holds the C Ds.... if anyones got one lying about i can give it a loving home!!!

You can still get the CD holder cartridge in the UK., about a tenner.

Just found the box! part no. XA-10B.

I thought I did have a spare, but it's an empty box!

The box is for a Sony CD changer cartridge, but it has a Nissan part number on a sticker on the box so it looks like it must have been a factory fitted option.

Thanks guys.

Rich.

How much do you want for your spare?

Cheers.

Free if you want to come and collect it, or whatever it costs me in post and packaging. pm me or send me an e-mail if your interested.

i can't guarantee it works, as i have never used it- I had a new stereo put in when I bought the car. The speakers didn't work so I never bothered checking the changer. It has the brackets too but not the plate it was mounted on (you don't need that do you?). Should be OK though.
