Hi,

Today my computer has gone mad. It seems that some pop-up has changed the browser page, which is now set with "look up",with rubbish tabs and when used pop-ups keep coming. I've tried deleting cookies etc. history, resetting the browser page to home, but the new browser page comes back. I downloaded spyware nuker and it removed around 100 files, but still the problem continues. I've subscribed to the spy nuker no-pops programme but the browser "look up" seems to be stopping the programme downloading.

So any advice? Anyone know of this problem? Is it a virus?

Hope someone can help

Geoff.

Thanks Simmo, I do have spybot on now - but too late, and Norton anti virus runs, but I think this popup thingy has simply reconfigured my browser to it's own setting to continue the mad popups. I did go through my files and I think I can identify the rougue file but it cannot be deleted!

I'll have a look on the programmes you mention.

Thanks,

Geoff.

If you know the file, you should be able to

go to it and change its attributes so that

it can be deleted.

Or, trying sending it to 'A' drive and then format the floppy.

Heh, heh - that'll fix the b*gg*r.

That should fix it!!

Ad-aware gets rid of 'tagged' on pop-ups, etc......I had the same problem.

328 of them to be exact!!

Give it a whirl.

Thanks all. Well I spent till 2am last night sorting it out. The spy invader was very clever it blocked me downloading any programmes that couls stop it, but I eventually got it. So it was all going ok and today I deleted most temporary files etc. But alas when my wife logged on to the comp this evening in her own section of the computor it was on hers, so I had to get rid of it again, but this time it was easier as I had a better idea what I had to do.

Thanks for all your help, I did use Spyware Nuker nad NoPops.

Geoff.
