can somebody tell me how to read the gearbox dipstick? might sound daft but its not very clear!! it has a hot square towards the bottom and a chevroned square higher up, if the oil is at the right level which square should it be in?? being at running temp.

Cany say I remember mine looking like that , but from your description, if the chevrons are pointing towards the bottom of the dipstick, I would suggest that is the maximium level, with the hot square being the minimum for operating temp. Stand to be corrected tho :)

Both the cold region (the lower one) and the hot region (the higher one) are marked with a square hatch pattern. When hot, (driven for at least 5 mins.) the level should be somewhere within the upper pattern area - (towards the uppermost part of the pattern suggested)

The fluid level is difficult to see, especially in bright sunlight, due to the golden colour of the oil and the low viscosity.

Regards

John
