Hiya!

Had my new radiator and hoses delivered today:) I got a set of red silicone hoses made by SFS(?) for £98 from Aldonautos, and a full metal replacement radiator from Overnight Radiator Company in New Jersey for $160 + $100 shipping (and the UK Government mugged me for £35 too! )

Anyway, is there anything I should be looking out for when I come to fit it? Any special way of bleeding the system, or problems to look out for?

Mine is a 1991 Jap import Auto by the way (and yes I made sure I got the right rad for an auto)

Any help much apreciated!

:)

if it's anything like removing the rad when changing the timing belt, it's all straight forward. Mines an na auto with an oil cooler in the rad so you have to disconnect the feed pipes to the oil cooler and block these with suitable dia bolts to stop the loss of trany fluid. Apart from that it's dead easy.

I live in a hard water area so used a 50 50 mix of de-ionised water and the best antifreeze I could find when re-filling the system - flushed out the crap first - the wasn't any....

good luck

Jack

THANKS JACK! Somewhat relieved to find out it's not too complex. Will let you know how it goes.

Cheers again!:)

X-biker - took me about an 1.5 hours to replace my radiator.

Some of the hoses eg autobox transmission fluid are a PITA to get off. I used a flathead screwdriver to ease them off gently.

I have an aftermarket oil cooler so didn't have to worry about spilling oil ;)

Errr what else...theres a number of bolts/clips underneath so you'll have to raise the car. But nothing thats not obvious. I took the fan off to make more room. Then washed it in the shower  and got a telling off from Mrs Shrimp :D:D

LMAO me to , glad to see I am not the only one that gets it in the earhole for making a mess on the kitchen table etc

All went back together lovely! No problems at all, especially since I paid someone else to do it for me LOL!!:D Temp guage now runs a fraction lower, and when I went out for a blast on the 'private test track' yesterday I still had water in the rad when I got back!:) Well worth the £30 (including anti-freeze) I paid:D :p
