Hi Matt,

Probably easiest to look here for all the info you need. MPG varies wildly, but on my stock UK TT I manage around the low 20s generally. Cost of running depends on the service history and (probably) mods. For me it's less than your beamer probably costs, but I'm super-anal about regular oil changes, which as most people here would agree, is money in the bank in terms of keeping the car sweet.

Just point any more specific queries here and I'm sure loads of people will help.

Best of luck finding your new wheels,

Russ.

Cool thanks for that russtic mate,

i'm specifically looking for a 92 Twin Turbo Model,

looking for peoples good and bad points of the car, booting it MPG.. how easy are these to get a bit of power from them. Are these reliable?

do they have LSD as standard ?

also what do they sound like? nice note on aftermarket exhaust? good engine note?

Matt

I Think of you were having problems running a rx7 then dont go for a zed they will burn more fuel, but saying that you will look cooler :D

Kirbz, what are you talking about???? If you look at the websites and other information on RX7's they are pi$$ poor on fuel...!

15 MPG on average, this is due to the rotary engine used plus the other huge running costs, oil etc....

To be honest if you've had an RX7, buy a Zed...

Cheers

Ben

No RX7s do worse MPG than a Z.

You can look at 16-18 round town and 25-32/33 on a motorway run depending on how you drive.

They are reliable cars if you get a good one and you look after it too.

With Chip, Exhaust, Induction and increased boost you would be looking at close to 400bhp at the flywheel. Most cars will come with some sort of performance exhaust on and inductions can be got for about £100.

However, if you chip and increase the boost you will need a new clutch over the stock one as they wont last very long.

There are lots of people on here who can supply parts cheaper if you want to increase power and there is always a group buy not not too far off.

One think which I think you will like with the Z over the RX7 is the T-Tops. :D :D :D

Stuart

hehe thanks guys! atleast it'll be cheaper then i guess!

what kinda oil do u guys use? how much for a full oil and filter change is needed?

what's the stock top speed most of u reach? and stock quarter mile time?

does the car have LSD as stnadard?

I have a 92 UK TT auto for sale soon - u interested ?

sorry mate, i'm looking for a manual :)

Matt

I might be though...

what colour/mileage etc and how much you looking for?

Leather 91k miles, Stock, Service history, £5500. Engine is sweet due to regular oil changes and TLC. Body is good for age of car, it's white. Black diamond front disks. Full closure alarm amd imobiliser.

Change oil between 3000 and 5000 miles.

Most people try to get Castrol RS 10-60 oil.

Yes it does has LSD as standard.

Yeah, LSD is standard. No traction control though lots of people have it put on aftermarket. HICAS 4 wheel steering, ABS, close to 50-50 weight distribution (for the 2+2 LWB). between 280 and 300BHP (standard) depending on transmission and country of origin. V6 very solid and reliable engine (at least with no mods). Can be upped to 400BHP-ish, perhaps more with lots of work done. Front engine / RWD configuration, variable valve timing, self learning ECU. Climate control and cruise control as standard. Many have leather seats.

Lots more information here (thanks to AndyP)

For an idea on servicing costs take a look at ZedWorld. You can save a lot of money by joining this forum and leeching off the incredible knowledge of the members here, like I do :D

Big questions are which transmission type and whether to get an import. I've said it before and I'll say it again: important to get decent service history, especially with regard to oil changes (every 5,000 miles is good) and the timing belt (must be done every 60,000 miles).

My stock exhaust actually sounds pretty uninspiring, though the engine note gets better and better through the rev range. Many members here set off alarms as they drive past, so you can pretty much get the zorst note of your choice.

I looked at the RX7 before going for the ZX. The w a n k el scared me off, both in terms of MPG and grumpiness when driven short distances. They look better than the ZX, in my view (leave me alone faisal), but the nissan is a better all-round package.

They're quite heavy cars so don't expect mind-boggling 0-60, but they're *great* to drive.

Cheers,

Russ.

I wish mine averaged 15 mpg ;)

Mine eats the fuel so i'm just going on experience, what i meant to say is dont expect a cheap and cheerful car...its gonna cost you at some point...dont i now know it
