Not trying to start anything, just wondering.

My mate has a 95 Supra TT 6 speed UK model. I have a 93 TT auto. Standard as far as I know.

My question is; when we race he always just has the edge on me, I mean he slowly, as in very slowly pulls away. And if I am on the ball I keep up, just.

 

Is this what one would expect? I ask because I am always surprised how well my car keeps up....

Supras are SHIT - ZEDS rule and what u worried about kicking anything off this is a zed forum- ur bound to create a stir with a question like that.

 

But honestly zeds are more driver cars and not granny wagons like the poopra

That sounds about right. The Supra is only ever so slighly faster than the Z and is said to have 320bhp.

It is true that the Supra is faster as my wife in her Sup could just about beat me, but since I chipped up my Zed she is left well behind.

But if you want to do a serious comparison between the 2 cars this is my findings, take it or leave it.

 

1. Standard Supra tt - faster than Zed

2. Steering Supra - sharper.

3. Zed more fun - the Supra as standard is extremely quiet and smooth while the Zed moves with great drama and noise.

4. The build quality of the Supra is very solid (eg - close the door of a Supra and compare Zed)

 

Overall I must tell you that the Supra is amazingly fast but you might as well be driving a fast saloon there is no sporty feel or sound to it unless modified. Whereas as we know the Zed is great fun to drive noise and drama which increases with mods!!!

So I rarely take advantage of driving the Supra!

before i bought my supra, i test drove a zed, a rx-7 and a mitsu 3000gto i found the supra to handle better (except for the rx7), was faster in stock guise and had far more appeal. i have been at the lights when a zed pulled up and people were still staring at the supra and totally blanked the zed coz it looked so ordinary beside it. i found the 3000gto even better drive than the zed and the rx-7 was the closest to the supe in terms of overall street cred. this is imo ...

 

by and large, i have a lot of respect for other people and their choice of cars and have found them respectful and polite in return but this guy faisal obviously has some 'rubber-room' issues that need sorting...shoe's on the other foot eh u nobhead ? granny wagons - what on earth are you on about ? and you wanna stick a wide arch conversion according to your sig - save the money for a psychiatrists couch mate - you'll need it !

 

mods/guys - sorry to all other members of this zed community for this rant but writing what he does really pisses me off and it shows his ignorance and stupidity. once again my apologies ...

Got to say here, I like the supra, its a nice motor, not my choice, but then neither is the TT zed.

 

blacktrdsupra, in my opinion (and I speak only for myself, not the forum) you dont owe anyone an apology, you are defending an unjustified attack on your personal choice, quite rightly so. If any apologies are owed, it is this forum to you

 

MY thoughts on it

I test drove a Supra before buying the Zed and chose the Zed over the Supra for one important reason: The Zed has prescence like no other car I have ever seen. Not looks, not speed, not noise, just an overall prescence. Look at a supra and you know what it is straight off. Look at a Zed, especially an import with no Nissan badges and it is anonymous to nearly all and sundry.

 

My Zed is lightly modded to 430 ish bhp but why bothered I`ll never know.I`m just not a road (private of course) racer. I simply love cruising in this car and could not get the overall wow effect of the Zed with a Supra.

 

This is why for me the Zed wins. Sure there are faster cars, sure there are cars than handle better, sure there are cars that look better (but not many) but for an overall (so far) £8K investment, I have a car that has more overall appeal (to me) than any car I could buy for under £100K. And no matter how wealthy I become, I will never buy a £100K car.

 

The Zed IS my ultimate dream car for so many reasons and I would not kick mine out of the garage for anything. This is just me and if the supra, Evo or Scooby boys feel this way about their cars then all power to them. Different horses for different courses and all that.

I think that we will have to agree that they are completely different cars. Most people think the Supra and 300ZX are virtually the same car because they have the same engine size and Twin Turbo. But that is where it stops. If we are compairing 3 litre TTs why not talk about the F40?

 

I am very proud of my Z because it is like no other car on the road. The Supra, 300ZX, RX7, 3000GT all get put in the same category because they were all around about the same time, have simalar engine setups and have roughly the same power. What is the great thing, is how 4 different car companies all target the same market and come put with 4 completely different cars in looks and mechanics. It gives us all something to look at, talk about and even meet up about it. That is why I think the Japanese performance car community is the best car community in this country and probably in the world. So lets keep this community going by not compairing dick sizes and saying why my car is better than yours and lets appretiate the good things about other cars.

I know why my car is good, and no matter how much a Supra, RX7 or any other car owner preeches about their car to me, it wont make me change my mine so why bother. And I wont goto a Supra owner and preach why they should get a 300ZX because they bought the car because that is what they want so why bother.

Listen guys this is no personal attack on any individual supra owner but just that i really hate the supra and iv got a tendency to churse them whenever i can never once have i gone out and verbally attacked any supra owner (just there cars)

Its just a joke as far as im concerned and if u cant take it then thats not my problem. Ur obviously taking it to seriously. They are nice cars but this is the only time i will admit to it.

 

Blacktrdsupra no need for name calling coz itll just get long if i just start aswell. I never attacked u personally so no need to call me anything thats my opinon of the supra and i have a right to say it. U dont like it fair enough but dont come out with slurring me. I made my choice and I am very happy with it...

 

I tried the same bunch of cars, all different, all rated by peformance magazines differently...

 

At the end of the day, you make the choice...

 

Let's just leave it there and get modding our own cars!!

Oops I thought this was a Z forum for a moment not somewhere for Supra owners to come and tell us how fantastic they are AGAIN :rolleyes:

There's a reason why I chose a Z over a Supra thats not been mentioned yet:

 

When was the Z first made available to buy? 1989?

 

Which Supra was available then? The MKIII.

 

Compare the two, how far ahead in terms of looks and design were Nissan? IMHO the MKIII supra looks bloated and dated compared to the Z.

 

But if the looks are ahead, what about the engine? 3lt V6, Twin Turbos, 24 Valves, Variable valve timing. All of this from an '89 car.

 

Oh, and yes this IS a Z forum. People come here to talk about Z's.

We are going to be biased. We may say things about other cars that some people may not like, as I am sure is what happens on other forums, dedicated to other cars.

 

If you dont like what you read here about supras (and there have been far worse things said about them in the past) go to a Supra forum and say things about Z's. We wont mind.

 

There is always going to be rivalry between various car owner clubs. You wouldnt walk into a pub, where Z owners have gathered and say that we shouldnt talk about other cars like that, would you?

jenBstevieB, SRRAE, Spezer300zx, bigBscan - all your thoughts are appreciated and i quite understand all that you have said and most of it (LOL) echoes my feelings on the subject. it is very much a 'we are all happy with our choice' scenario where we all live and let live with the choices that we ourselves and other people make in life. one man's meat is another's poison so fair call to all like like their individual choices - all the more power to you. i have no problem with this and and have never slagged anybody off for their choices. i also like the zed, rx7, gto etc for they are all nice and special in their own way.

while i can understand friendly rivalry and banter (and believe me there is rivalry on the supra site as well), what i cannot understand is the blatant wording that this guy uses. this isn't the first time i have seen this guy saying things like this and i just cannot see the need for this. i am a member of several other sites ie gtrboard,scoobynet, gtoforum, evoregister n gti-r forum as i have a passion for japanese performance cars and respect them all in their own ways.

Z's have class, looks, performance and SOUL, where Poopras have not. In fact they have about as much class as Posh & Becks:rofl: :D

This is my perspective (saying this so that no-one gets upset, lol).

When I first saw the Zed 13 years ago, I fell in love with it then. I thought it looked so awesome. Never believed I'd ever be driving one to be honest!

I like the 3000GTO, Supra & RX7, but felt that the 3000GTO was trying desperately to be a Ferrari, the Supra looked a bit like an overgrown Celica, the RX7 is a lovely car but has that damn rotary engine! The Zed is unique in the way that it looks.

 

The interior on the Zed is a far better design, in fact it's one of the best. When I first sat in the Zed I felt like I was in a real super car, in fact when I think back to when i bought it, I was in heaven for the first week. I've never felt like that when getting into another car.

Also, the Zed was one of the first cars to have ditched the pop-up headlamps and go for the sloping jobbies (almost identical to the newer diablo lights).

Which is exactly why i love mine. :)
