Recirculating dump valves

Having fitted Blitz BOV's, what parts of the old recirculating valves need blanking off? Can you get away with just blanking off the hose which is easiest to get at? Anybody know the guy in Harrogate who fits chips etc. ?

Hi Chris,

Can you sort me out with a chip and increased boost, also about the existing dump valves any knowledge on blanking them off having fitted blitz bovs, what else do you do?

Thanks,

Mike.

Mike I will try and get some pics up,been very busy mate:(

You worked out where the hose from the bov goes to yet?

Mac,

I've also got Blitz dump valves on my Hard pipes but my re-circ's are still in place.

Have you removed yours? If so I can see that the main pipe needs to be bunged like it says in most write up's, but what do you do with the pipe that feed's the re-circs (or BOV if they're installed there).

I figure that needs to be capped off too, but wouldn't it make more sense to cap it off at the source.

Just asking 'cos it's easier than messing around in the bay seeing where everything comes from!!

Cheers,

James

PS if you know the cap sizes required that would be cool ( I think Jeff mentioned 28mm for one)

Yup, use the existing source for recirc. valves, all I need to know now is which pipes is it necessary to blank off on the recirc's. I would have thought just the easiest to get at would suffice but would prefer confirmation.

If your putting the bov's where the re-circ's are, you attach the bottom hose and vac line to the bov and you blank off the pipe coming from the intake to the re-circ.

Follow the write up on Stu's site

Hi the bov's are on the hard pipes, its just a matter of which of the pipes on the old recircs it is necessary to blank off.

Mike.

same question as me then. Would have thought all of them...

If you blank off one of the larger pipes nothing can pass through the valve especially as the vacuum pipe is blanked off, which actually opens the valve.

That's the whole point, you're removing them. The piping is there to allow the re-circ's to work. You don't need the re-circ's anymore because you'r BOV's vent the air.

So you can either leave them there and have both BOV and re-circ's working, remove the vacuum line from the re-circ's so they are permenantly shut, or jsut remove the whole lot and block the pipes off.

I agree what you say, but if you have both sets fitted and connected the only valves that will work, recirc or bov, will be the ones that operates at the lowest release setting.

I wanted to keep my recirc's, but disconnected, in place in case I remove the bov's to transfer to another car.

You dont know anyone with traction control to sell do you, and brake upgrade?

Mike, if you look at the recirc, you will see a pipe coming off it, and going back onto the intake piping just after the plastic T piece off the MAS. Remove this pipe and blank off BOTH holes that are left. Do this on both sides. Whatever you do, do not just disconnect the vac line from the recirc - it uses the vacuum/pressure to help it stay shut under normal conditions ;)

Does that make sense?

Andy

Hi Andy,

That is excellent advice, but what I have done is kept the pipes in place but inside the pipes I have installed a bung secured in place externally with a jubilee clip, that way nothing can pass through the valves, I am sure you will agree that it does the same job as what you quite rightly suggest I should do.

Many thanks, Andy.

Mike.

Yep absolutely spot on - that was the way I *was* gonna do it on mine until I couldn't find anything to block the pipe with :D

Having seen David Blaine beside your reply, I am sure he could have found something to block one of your recirc. pipes. :D

Hi Andy,

Just discovered Vac/Boost guage not working any ideas? I am going to try disconnecting small pipe to recirc's at recirc end instead of manifold end and put a 'T' piece in to new pipe to Bov's.
