When I slow down or accelerate slightly, the front of the car makes a creeking sound. I cant feel any movement just loud creeking like a door opening.

Any ideas any one?

Do you have polyurethane bushes?

I heard from an acquaintance that they can

sometimes do that.

On the set up i have it creeks like mad soon as winter/colder months start,so jack it up,spray silicone/grease etc all over joints etc, noise will then eventually go ;)

let me no what it is as id love to no if you ever find out

Another possibilty is the T tops. My drivers side has started to creek since the weather has got colder.

My Z creeks when I reverse out on the road, could be the targas could be the whole car being excited at going out onto the road!!

No it is 100% from the front of the car.

I have heard T-Tops creak before, I have heard the ice on the T-Tops smash when I went over a speed bump with the car flexing

I am thinking its the brakes now, because when I release the brakes slightly to move forward in traffic when I am on a hill, the brakes make a creeking noise when I start to roll and then it stops when I completely let go of the brake.

The noise occurs about a tenth of a second before I come to a stand still when I break and exactly the same noise occurs when I pull off.

I shall try to explain the noise. When you have a greeky door, when you open and close it slow the creek turns into lots of very small pops of greeking noise and not 1 long constent creek. When I brake I get 2 or 3 little pops of a greeking noise and when I pull off again, I get 1 or 2 there.

Its only started doing it in the past 2 days or so.

It could be the polly bushes that was my first though, but I would have thought they dont move that much. But saying that then times when the noise occurs, braking and pulling off is a time where there is stress on the things.

Hmmmm, interesting.

This will probably sound really stupid, but you have checked your wheelnuts are tight havent you.

I had a creek, well more of a clunck every time i either accelerated or braked, I looked at everything, but since swapping the wheels over (sock for stock) it went away, figured one of the old ones might have been a wee bit loose....

.....probably why ive got a knackered wheel bearing now!!!

The tightness of the front callipers could be worth a check, they may rattle a bit if theyre not proper tight.

Good luck stu.

My guess is the bushes on the anti-roll (sway) bar. If they are dry then you get exactly that type of creek as the bar rotates within them.

Could be that. They are only about 6 months old though

Hi Stuart,

Another thing to look at are the shims behind the brake pads. Re-grease them with some copper grease and see if that helps.

My car made a creaking noise as it approached stand-still or as I was just releasing the brakes from a stand-still. Changed the pads as part of routine maintenance (and cleaned/re-greased the shims) and the creaking stopped!

Not sure if this helps but it's worth a shot!

Regards,

The pads are not that old and I aways put copper grease on them shim before I put them back on.

I will have a look at that though.

Thanks

Its the brake pads and the disks - bet yours is an auto isnt it? Mine does it every now and then - no big deal. Sometimes its worse and sometimes it doesnt do it at all.

Dunno how to fix it though!!!

No its a Manual. ;)

But it is the same sound when you let an auto creep a little.

Happened to mine a couple of days after fitting, removed and greased bush - no problem since.

Probably that then.

Strange thing is I have changed the pads a few times, but the last time I really cleaned the shims so they looked like new.

The mud and dirt on they probably stopped the noise :S
