Hiya all

Have been surfing the site for a couple of weeks now and have just bought a 92 twin turbo. Its metallic grey and a jap import.

Has a few probs - seem to be the usual ones -

o/s window not working ( fixed - dry solder inside relay )

Speedo intermittent ( works for about 5 miles, goes haywire, and then dies until car is left to stand for about 10mins. )

Power steering switches off after speedo dies and then hicas light comes on. ( i presume this is all related to the hicas having no speed input !)

Shes very tidy, and i will post some pics up if anyones interested.

Congratulations Andy!

Intermittent speedo and power steering failure more than likely have to do with a faulty speed sensor. Get one from Nissan and replace it and this will probably sort the problems.

Hope that helped.

Wishing you many happy Zed miles!

Regards,

Congratulations on the new Z.

The problem you are experiencing is typical of a worn out speed sensor.

Because the steering is speed related, it goes mad when the speed sensor isnt working as it cant work out how fast you are going.

Its not a hard thing to change. I think its attached to the gearbox some where.

I believe they are about £100 from Nissan or ask AndyZ if he has any. You can find him in the traders section.
