Hi all, I have just reformatted my hard drive etc, and now windows will not allow cookies. This is straight from loading windows (98se) I have checked the menus and it says cookies are allowed but still they are not. I have left the security at windows recomended, ie medium I think. And there are cookies placed in the cookies folder, but they can not be SEEN by any web sites, inc this one and I have to log in every time.

Any ideas please.

Have you tried reducing the security to low? Not that I recommend running like this all the time. But just to see if it makes any difference.

I had a similar problem at work, and now the PC is running on low all the time, but its not my PC, so who cares!

Have you tried upgrading to the latest version of your browser - I've seen programs that complain about cookies even though all the settings are to allow them - try the upgrade and see how that goes first.

Tried LOW, no difference

No Fire wall, actually I have but it played up before I loaded it.

And I am running IE 6.

Thanks guys, but this did not work, any more ideas?

There are some service packs available for version 6 - is it all websites or just some that it has a problem with? Have you got anything set inside the Privacy setting in the TOOLS menu? That specifically has a bearing on cookies seperate from the other settings.

On IE6

tools , internet options, privacy at the bottom of the window is an edit buttoin, you can allowsites togive you cookies or block them, allow the site you need.
