OK, here's a question that just occurred to me...

 

Lots of us have spent 5k on a car and then spent another 5k-15k looking after the bloody thing.

 

So if you were to go out and buy a car currently in manufacturing, for that same 20 grand - what would you buy that even comes CLOSE to a sleek and sexy RWD 300bhp GT like wot we've got?

 

A TT? Na.

 

A M5? An AMG Merc? Na.

 

Trevors cost twice that and are even less reliable.

 

I'm on the verge of suggesting an MR2... help!

 

Any other ideas? Maybe a Saab? ("Helping" a mate test drive a 9-3 Vector on Friday.)

Maybe I scan-read this thread, but gotta love them Supras, eh Roy ;) Not that they're still in production (are they?). TVR's sound the nuts, but I dunno if I'd have one. R33... loads of potential, but I can see one sucking more money out of my pocket than my 300 has. No? How 'about some cheap old Ferrari just to say you've got a Ferrari (ya tart ;) ). You could prolly also get quite a bit of porker... but for the money, the interior is as up to date as my old 2.8i Capri (I /loved/ my old 2.8...).

A BMW 840/850 coupe. Not new I know but far removed from the usual 318i and relatively rare on the road.

Or a Hyundai coupe....the new mustang shape car!It would need some serious tuning mods though!!:D

Give it another year and early Maser 3200s will be less than £25k.

 

Same mass as a Z twin tubs V8 tho and probably much less reliable.

 

Incidently had a French colleague in the car this week, Picked im up at the airport, He got in said "nice". Then spoiled it by saying "what is it? a Hyundai?"

 

Then he said how well Renault was at sorting out Nissan.
