Oh ho hum frown.gif

I dont take alot of notice of the stock (mmHg) gauge in my Zed, but after yesterdays 400 mile blast took her for some fun up the A1 tonite and noticed she wasn't pulling quite as well as b4 frown.gif

As luck would have it I have a pillar GReddy boost gauge - floored it in second and third and the gauge would not go above 0.5KG/CM, now I have been over to the unit convertor and that equates to 7.111 PSI.

Where I come from that is safety boost innit??

Please say it aint so frown.gif

Wasn't it you with whom we had the long discussion about pinking last week ?

Are these two connected possibly ??

If the ECU detects pinking (only works at on)..

Well yes, but since then I have only run it on proper gas (ie 97super) and its been a dream. Weird because it doesn't seem to pink, but I am sure its in safety boost, oh well here we go.

Thing is tho, with respect to your good self Andy, the fuel mixture gizmo on my car has never been switched on at all so it cant be that... suppose its time to check for error34... frown.gif

Bugger it!

Glen.

There are other causes of safety boost remember.. They are.. Er.. Um..

Coolant temp sensor for one (not the one that goes to the dash gauge though)..

And.. er.. um.. bugger.. forgotten!

Senna,

Could be a air leak in one of the hoses. Try switching ignition off/on, give it a blast and check if SB comes back - it may not happen straightaway. If car runs Ok for a bit then probably not air leak but SB. Does it run Ok at night i.e. in cool air? Are there any other indicators - e.g. misfire? There are lots of posts on TT net about SB and the cause/remedy.

Thanks for the reply Coogs smile.gif

There have been another few weird characteristics i have noticed.. slight hesitation etc, im gonna warm her up tomorrow and floor her up the A1, then pootle home and check for error 34, just hope that it isnt the det-sensor frown.gif

Its strange, how many things can tell the cpu to initiate SB?? can it be such things as needing a new set of plugs for instance? it baffles me, i always ran her on 95unleaded but the only things that have changed recently (and the car has changed with em - ie SB) is using 97 super unleaed and an oil change!!

Will have another blast tomorrow and see what happens..

PeaceV

Connect a voltmeter to the boost solenoid output pin on the ECU.

That way you'll be sure if you're in safety boost.

When you're on the throttle, the voltage should read near zero.

Check the "Safety Boost Warning Light" write-up on my home page

for more info on this.

I know this is REAL bad timing...(I feel for you I really do)... but is there ever a time that you 'don't' have problems with cars mate? biggrin.gif It just seems to be one thing after another...

Hope you get it sorted soon,

Jayen

Glen, you wanna be careful. If the car is detonating, pinking whatever, you need to get to the bottom of things asap. Keep driving her up the A1 and flooring it could be doing long term engine damage.

Get it sorted geeZer!

Tim
