Why ohh why is it such a pain in the ass to fit subs in the zed.

Tried 12's...no

Had to go 10's but still tight to fit everything in.

Took all day just to remove everything and start building the sub boxes.

So tomorrow is the day, 2 vega subs 2 amps and try and make everything work again:rolleyes:

I cant take all the credit, my dad is very useful!!

I do all the specs and my dad builds it...works very well :D

Looks good, personally i would have gone with a sealed box as those ports are going to shoot straight into glass or the plastic trim.

Looks good though.

Hi Bob

The vega's need to be in a ported box.

If it doesnt work i can always port them on the front of the box or side, the top was the easiest ;)

No doubt i will find out when i connect it all up.

Cheers

Kirbz

how's your new head unit - you tried it yet ?

won't those subs cancel each other, firing like that ?

Will look good when it its finished Kirbz, bet it weighs a ton though

That was my first thought too ....

......just like you can't hear any sound sitting between stereo speakers? :p ;)

The subs are in phase so no they won't cancel each other. Would be interesting actually (well for 5 seconds anyway...) to put one in reverse phase to see if it really is silent...

Hi Nelson

Yep the new head unit is in and working, i had it properly fitted about 3 weeks ago i then ripped it all out on saturday anyway and have re-installed it!!??

So could have saved myself £120...never mind

Doesnt actually weigh that much, i used 12mm mdf to cut down on weight and the original sub was 12" and false floor was 18mm so its probebly about the same

shouldnt cancel each other out, the ports do as much work as the subs, saying that if it does then its re-building time...sorry dad

:D

Just got to get my brother-in-law to carpet it at the weekend, then i will post finished pics and how i sounds.

Mike can you give me alittle info on the alpine screen you have? How much they cost now?Is it one of those with a touchscreen?

  • Author

Hi

It hasnt got a touch screen, i dont think alpine make a touch screen one, kenwood and pioneer do..i think.

But saying that alpine are the best at head units, i have the 806 head unit with the built in cd player so its handy not to keep having to change the cd's in the changer.

Mine has a slight fault of scrolling graphics on the screen(faulty chip in the brain)

You can get the 1004 for about £600 now which is really cheap.

Cheers

Kirbz

Give me your e-mail if you want and i'll sent you some pics of my setup maybe you get some extra ideas

Hahahaha

Those who doubted the design and the speakers would cancel each other out....wrong.

Sounds superb, need a little tuning but unbelievable amount of bass, it hurts :D

Some updated pics, just needs carpeting now...weekend job :D

And yes it does sound goooood, not a punchy as i would have wanted so dance stuff is not too good, maybe better when the subs are broke in and the amp been properly tuned but r&b is great far too much bass if thats possible :D

Anyway well happy

Hi Stu

Shut up its winter :D

They will sit between the subs so i'm working on an idea of some kind of rack...not sure yet.

Still sounds good though
