...

...then I think that those articles should be published on this forum first.

No offence meant, but we could do with similar input on our own board!

Tim

I hear what your saying, but the information isnt for a board, its for a site.

Maybe it can be used on both sites?

Fuel Injection - YGM.

Tim, I agree that anything like this should be shared material, but where do you see it fitting in on the board? Are you thinking along the lines of FAQ's?

CheerZ,

JB.

Any information can/will be shared.

I'm all for building a Nissan community, and to do this it will need particular websites to work together as a team, ie, under the 300zx section of my site, I'm putting a link to this forum on there.

I'm not trying to compete with this board, but my forum is a more general nissan forum, where 300zx.co.uk is more specific, and obviously the people using this site are 300 enthusiasts.

This forum is great, and credit to the webmaster, a good community of 300 lovers has been build here, I want to build a community of Nissan lovers.

Shaun

Shaun,

I think that what you're trying to compete with is more along the lines of http://www.pistonheads.com

Further to that John, I think that the mods and commitee of this site could benefit from taking a long look at Pistonheads. If, the 300zx.co.uk is to move on a stage to become a club then IMHO we should start offering something more than just a bunch of forums. There should be background info and editorial. This is more in line with my thinking about what we should do with info generated by members of this 'board'.

Come on guys lets get a good discussion going, anything close to the feelings and reactions about Ajay and the Trax money would be good. Throw your 2 penneth in.

Tim

Well, similar, but It'll take me a little time to get that much information, but hey, you've gotta start someone.

Good point, Tim.

Perhaps I can open the discussion and perhaps we can all exchange some views, without it getting hostile or personal :D

I agree that in making 300zx.co.uk a club, we do need to offer more than just a bunch of forums - it'd be great to think that we could offer additional depth with articles, reviews and more technical information (albeit that I acknowledge there's other sites like Andy's and Stuart's that already supplement this very well at the moment).

I can see a few clouds on the horizon, though -

1) You bring to the fore an interesting point in referring to the "feelings" that the Trax thread aroused. Clearly, we've got a lot of work to in working together a bit more harmoniously for a start ;). Somehow, we need to make all the paying members (and potential ones) feel that the club will be inclusive of their views - how do we do that?

2) If this is going to be more than a one-off excersice, the content needs to be dynamic. That means that people will need to make an effort to come up with ideas and material. I already know from talking to Mr Burns about the Z-club magazine that getting people to generate material is no mean feat. So, who's prepared to take time out to generate stuff like this?

3) I don't know that we're equipped to have the site regularly updated without relying on the goodwill of Mike Groves at the moment - perhaps the committee have plans to address this?

4) What sort of content do we want, to make the difference? It needs to be accurate (un-challenged) and credible and readable. It's a tall order.

OK .. there's a few points for a starter - and just to sum up before any readers nod-off ...

It seems to me that the last week on the forum has proven that there's a degree of re-grouping and discussion to be had before we can move forward. Paul hints at this clearly in his post in "suggestions" ... personally, however, assuming we can pull together, I think this is a great initiative, and I'd be happy to get involved where I can.

Apologies for the length of this post ... but there is a lot of passion out there about this forum and our beloved cars, it just need harnassing IMO. :D

Here's a dancing banana for good measure:

This is very true John, and it is often under-estimated I think.

If we could channel all that passion and energy, then we'd be onto a good thing.

Hi Guys

When i joined a couple of months ago i did offer to do any printing for free ie monthly letter, magazine etc

I know some of the other forums do stuff like that and its nice to get something through the post to let you know whats going on and there are plenty of people here who could do pics and editorials.

I have been on various forums and this if the most friendly and informative i've come across, in fact after i sold my black zed i test drove other cars but went back to a zed partly because i love em and because its a small (exclusive it tell everyone;) ) close net group of people.

I havnt been around on the site that long but already i know a couple of people in the NW and i'm looking forward to the SE weekend to meet everyone else.

Lets get the club thing moving, it can only benefit us all.

Cheers

Kirbz

Nice one Kirbz!

I agree that it would be kinda nice to get something through the post .. it does give you a real feel of belonging to a club.

Now, all we need is something to print :);)

When I first of all subscribed I was disappointed that I didn't get anything through the post. Was expecting a 'welcome' kinda letter maybe. Some car stickers would've hit the spot for sure.
