Halfords is convenient, but staffed by zombies.

I got the paint code off the identification plate and took it in, walked past the sign that said they could mix up 48,000 colours and asked the young chap if he could mix it for me. He looked in his big book, and then wound up his computer, but couldn't find Nissan on there at all.

I sighed and gave up. Can anyone help out- my paint code is AH3 G (wine red metallic). Should they have been able to do it? They had a big book with model years which he flicked through. I told him (maybe) it was under 1991, as that was the year of the car, but I honestly don't know on this one- maybe the guy was right and maybe I am being stupid.

Anyone had touch up paint mixed by Halfords? I did a quick search on here and it seems they SHOULD be able to do it. Did I get the code wrong?

I'd look up your local professional paint product supplier, they will definately be able to find a match for you.

I've had paint mixed for an Audi once at halfords, they found the code ok but the colour was no where near when used!!

i worked for halfords for a while and i think alot of the nissan paint came under datsun, so you could try ringing them so they can look up your code again cos it should be on the database.

trouble is the software for those computers is in italian :D and that did tend to complicate matters a bit whyen trying to mix up paint

to be fair, I did notice that it was all furin like on the screen. I was looking for convenience, and the little pen with sanding tool etc seemed idel for a stone chip under the wheel arch.

I just like a quick fix. I'll phone up the local dealer.

Thanks again

oops- had to register at works computer to post a reply because I couldn't remember my login details- is that naughty?

Had some made up by Halfords last year. It was under Datsun.

Surprisingly good match too, but I'm colour blind so don't read too much into it :)

I had some paint mixed up by Halfords for a 200SX & it was totally the wrong colour. Instead of pearlescent blue, it looked purple!

I'd give it a miss personally.

Spotty work experience kids mixing the stuff no doubt...

I had the manager make up mine. Make sure who ever does it does not a faceful of zits.

Had some AG2 stuff made up in idiot cans about 8 weeks ago, code was in the paint books you mentioned.

Word of caution, check the base coat, i used red instead of white as an undercoat and the pig is half a shade too dark...arse
