What? You mean you had £3,500 going on your Credit Card and you didnt spend it on your Z? You better get your priorities right. ;)

Not good though. This is why I bought a paper shredder, to rip up all recepts. Some companies blank out most of your card number on the recepts while most dont. You dont think much of it, but all it takes is some on to pick it up if you drop it on the floor, or even go through your bin while its out overnight, and they can get a large number of Debit and Credit card numbers.

I'm normally pretty good with receipts etc....I wouldnt be surprised if someones got my details from a "secure site" when I've bought something off the net.......

Oh, and no I didnt have £3500 left on the card, it took it way over its limit, which is why Natwest called me, otherwise I'd have been none the wiser....Just as well I spent all my money on the car I suppose:rolleyes: :D

Sorry to hear it mate. I personally trust online sites but I to take very good care of whom I buy with over the internet. I know there are risks but there are with any think like that now.

The most secure way to pay for anything now, is by a cheque through the post.

Do you know if these fraudulent orders where made over the internet? If they where the IP of the person who ordered would have been saved with tht order from which they can tell who the service provider was and then who it was.

TBH I dont wanna know - I'm gonna leave all that shit to the credit card company.....

I've had it twice mate :(

Once I had a card taken from my wallet when I stupidly left it in my jacket on a seat in the pub whilst playing pool in Leeds.

When I noticed it missing I cancelled it but found some twat had spent £1500 in Argos in Manchester.

Recently somebody spent £250 on my Visa card online but i don't know how they got my details.

I wasn't liable in either case.

I know you never mate!

You just used the £5 ones:D:D:D:D

I buy things off ebay using cheques only - I don't trust PayPal etc. I also rip up any receipts which have card number on.

I doubt it, more likely it was double swiped in a curry house etc.

Alternatively, it's possible to create your own randomly numbered cards as long as you know the forumla for the checksum. This has been available on the Internet from time to time !!!

Paying with cheques gives away all the bank details they need to defraud you further, and you seldom get it back from a bank, unless you can prove that you didn't sign the cheque or initiate the electronic transation. Paying with a credit card generally means you're protected and are unlikely to lose more than about £50.
