hi all,

assistance required, as usual!!!

just got my Z back from the garage. We had to replace the coolant sensor as the fans were on all the time, but i still have an underlying problem.

If i put my foot down it takes off ok but then seems to hit a massive flat spot. It seems to sort of surge pick up a bit then flat spots again. i don't like driving it like this, as something is not right.

Diagnostics show nothing is wrong, but the garage says this is not infallable.

Any ideas of anything i can check, otherwise it'll have to go back in for a more time consuming check over.

many thanks

added thought........................

the fuel pump is pretty noisy (whirring sound), could i be losing pressure? the car revs ok at standstill.

When cold or hot or both ?

Could be a fair few things mate.

Try and get a conZult rigged up to it if you can.

You done an ECU diag ?

no errors are showing at all, although the coolant sensor has just been replaced, and this did show.

things are getting considerably worse now. This morning, driving to work , which is only about 2 miles, it was hesitating even when cruising at 30. Went round a roundabout and it died completely! I now have arms like popeye and an interior smelling of poo!!!

managed to pull it to the kirb, not easy in an auto, and tried to restart. It wouldn't have it until a coupla minutes later when it fired up and drove fine.

Taking it back to the garage tomorrow for more attention. Not going to drive it till i have to take it in tomorrow.

You say the coolant sensor has just been replaced but what about the harness? How does the wiring to it look?

from memory, it was ok, but can't be sure

If you wiggle the sensor harness at the connection while the engine is running (careful with those fingers if you want to keep them!) and the aux fan comes on/off, then the harness/connection is naff and needs attention. If this doesn't change the engine tone, etc. at all then you need to look elsewhere!!!

Could be a whole host of things (TPS, injectors, vacuum leak, etc.) - there's plenty good write ups to follow, as well as the online manual.

Hope you find it, and get it sorted...
