Hello all,

Well, after a well deserved break in Holland me and my Z are back in the country (both still slightly seasick as the case may be). Met up with Eric (Lymonn) several time and need to mention here that he's a top bloke. He sorted me out with UK size rear rims for my import Z as well as sorted an idling and cooling problem I've been having. Thanks m8!

Now that I'm back I need to do a few upgrades to the hoses and connectors in the car. I need the following items and would like to know if I can get them in the UK and what to expect price-wise:

1. Uprated fuel lines - looking for the type that has a braided exterior to prevent the constant shrinking/expanding and therefore leaking problem.

2. Aluminium radiator hoses - I think my original rubber ones are knackered and completely flatten when the engine sucks a vacuum, thereby preventing engine cooling and subsequently overheating - which has happend on one too many occasions recently.

3. Under panelling - both my passenger side panel (under the intercooler) and centre panel are shot.

4. Connector for the engine temp sensor and the temp guage. These are the two connectors located at the front of the engine right behind the radiator (mine are yellow and black).

If anyone can point me in the right direction, there will be a pint in it for you at the next meet! I have tried Luke at the ZCentre but line is constantly engaged.

Many thanks and cheers!

Danny

One quick Q - how old is your rad?

Usually if the engine is sucking so hard that your bottom rad hose collapses, it means your rad is very blocked, and the pump is trying to pump more out of the radiator, than is going in at the top.. Not sure on the cooling circuit on the Z so that might not hold true..

But it's a thought..

Thanks for planting the thought! I have just recently (within the last 2 weeks) had my radiator rebuilt. As far as I can tell it was the original rad ('90 tt 2+2 aut jap).

I also forgot to add a transmission oil cooler to the list. I know the retail for about £300 incl. VAT and labour - can anyone confirm?

Would it be worth it to get the Stillen radiator pipes and oil cooler - quite pricy..

Dan

Think the transmission cooler is about £250 incl VAT.

Someone here was talking about solid lower rad pipes, either Smithy or Harve I think.

If you've had the rad rebuilt, then it should be fine with no noticeable pressure drop across it.. So you should be OK there..

Of course there isnt' really any way to check it... Which is a pain..

Danny, if you can just hold on for a week or 2, i'm in the process of finishing of a rad kit. Polished stainless steel lower with Samco coloured elbows (any colour) top hose again coloured and by Samco, or if you prefer can do Stainless for that too.

Your present bottom hose with age becomes very flexible when hot, whilst driving it is possible for this hose which is being pushed by the air coming through your lower dam to kink the pipe, thus resulting in a drop in water/fluid flow and that's no good for ya Zed. price will be cheaper than Paul Bailey or Stillen, nicer too, I've paid £85.00 to PB for his and it's crap, that's why i'm doing the kit, check out my rides section for other special offers, Smithy

Danny,

As for the transmission oil cooler, you can get one from

Level 10 (www.levelten.com) for 75$.

Here it is mounted on my radiator:

I will be moving it to the front though.

After a recent track driving, I discovered that

the oil temp went up, past 100 C, which is not good.

Smithy - thanks! I can wait for a week or so. Let me know when you have some pics to view. Also, are these of similar quality as the Stillen's or PB's?

Maciej - thanks for the link - will probably get it there. Do you know if I can still fit it when I'm also fitting a K&N (cone) air filter in the front?

Honest to christ the Paul Bailey one was simply about 3ft of lightweight bent steel not shiny at all, no elbows or sleeves, with postage £85.00 i queried having no sleeves and was told to cut pieces of my existing black rubber hose, bollocks man !!

I will only ever sell what i believe to be quality and looks the part, Johnny will testify to how much i like perfection in certain things, especially my cars looks, Smithy

Danny,

I have tried fitting it in front of the AC-radiator but

it's a pain.

I'll give it one more try during the winter.

The cone filter goes down in front of the engine oil cooler, making

it hard to fit the tranny cooler there.

Anyway, it's not trivial but not impossible...

Maciej

here's a shot of the Stillen aluminum lower radiator hose.

Phuong what's the price of the Stillen one, think the hoses are cack though, Cheers Smithy
