I am really confused now. I bought an immaculate N/A with 14k miles on the clock. Everyone who has looked at it says it is a really tidy car, in REALLY good condition, especially the bodywork.

But.....I want a TT. My car is wine metallic (check out my rides page) and the tweed interior looks like the car was driven out the showroom yesterday.

But....I want a TT. The engine purrs nicely. It is nice and fast compared with what I am used to. But I have driven a TT, and I WANT A TT.

I love my new z, but I WANT A TT. I do not think I will see one with as low a milage (assuming it IS correct). I don't think I will see one that looks as new as this. why am I not satisfied!! Hasn't any other N/A driver ever had this feeling?

When I was looking, I went in a few FAST cars. But a LOT of them were extremely kak- bodywork, rough engine etc. I'll do a search for good N/A tuning ideas. But it just won't help me with my obsession will it....

Will I really have to give up this one to sate my lust for the TT thrust.

easy answer. yes. if your not happy now you never will be. you might get your n/a to stock tt power but what is appealing about the tt is its easy tunability. ie 400bhp easily attained for little cash

I wish!!!

I did seriously consider it. Unfortunatley the 5 grand I have left...well, let's just say I might find this house a little frosty if I were to 'borrow' it from the joint account.

Get a brand new TT engine from Nissan :D

This way, you'll have an immaculate chassis, no extra weight from HICAS, stiffer bodyshell due to the absense of the t-bar and quicker responses because of the SWB.

NEXT!!!

XTT, you should come and sort my life out for me...

Indecision and me are good friends.

Not that I am considering it (...well. not really), but is what you mention actually possible? I mean I know this is probably another old chestnut, but CAN an N/A engine be turboed reliably? Would a TT engine fit in the engine bay? or would it, if it's possible, end up costing the same as a 'real' TT?

AFAIK, it's the same bodyshell mate. IMHO opinion it's better to get a TT engine and fit it than turbo the existing one unless the mechanic is your best mate like mine is :D

Yeah its doable, but more expensive than selling your N/A and buying a TT.

People have converted convertable (!) 300ZXs to TT as they only come in N/A form (Topless I think is doing this ???)

just had a look at your rides section. your right it is in lovely condition. also the hardtop or slicktop i think it is called is quite rare

LEEZX - thanks- it's a 1991. My nexty neighbour had a look underneath and said it was pretty clean (he's a Volvo engineer)

It seems like it would be quite possible to fit a new engine. Is this a daft idea? What else would be needed? or would it just be the engine. Would it need a new clutch etc to take care of the extra power? You can get engines for a *reasonable* price can't you? I mean £2/2.5k. If I could get someone to put it in that would be a possibility. Or am I asking the impossible. It's something I might think about in the future

2-2.5 k?

I think it would be less than that, i read a thread in the for sale forum some time ago about a bloke selling 3 brand new TT engines for less than 2.5k each. :D

brand new? you mean no miles? you mean '99 jap car? or what? So, the engine could be whipped out and a TT put in, and it would *work*... ? Really? So how much would a good low mileage TT engine be? What other parts would have to be bought.

This is all strictly hypothetical you understand...

What I am getting at is; is this a serious option I would have?

That's where my knowledge on the subject ends, i suppose some older members have to take it from here. But i can't see no reason why it wouldn't work, as mentioned above, it has been done before :D

Just had a look at your rides section and she does look very nice.

You could put a TT engine in, should be less than 2-2.5k but you will need a clutch. I'm not sure if the gearbox is the same, if not u'll need that aswell (should all be bought as one unit).

Then you're going to have problems like the front bumper is different, a tt has vents on the sides to let air go over the intercoolers, tt/na's have different driveshafts, ecu's etc etc..

You'll probably find there's quite a long list of things need changing unfortunately.

so it's not worth it, is it. Too complicated. I either get rid of it and buy a TT or stick with it. It is in too good shape to get rid of, but I WANT a TT. Like I said, aaaaaaagh!!!!

1) If it sounds like a PITA, it probably is.

2) see this article http://www.twinturbo.net/ttnetfaq/FAQpages/natott.html

3) If you want an NA, buy an NA - if you want a TT, buy a TT

If you have an NA you're better off than 99.99999% of other cars owners and 100% of Supra owners.

If you really want a good TT, use your NA as a daily driver, look after it well, don't throw fibreglass and strange things at it while you look for the TT that suits you.

Then you'll find it easier to sell more quickly.

HTH - Gio

Hmmmm. Very wise words.

I like the car I bought and can't see myself selling it. Yep, I do yearn for that power I felt testing out TTs- even if you aren't going to belt around at over 140mph it's nice to know you COULD.

I set myself priorities when I bought, and a very clean body and low milage was top of the list. I went with that and bought an NA, so I suppose I did stay with my original plan. I like the way people look at the car. I like how guys have come up and talked to me about it. To me the car in stock form looks better than anything else.

I felt vaguely guilty even changing the alloys from the Nissan originals. The milage on mine is 15k. All the evidence I have suggests that's what it has done- I just couldn't pass that up because it was important to me.

......I still want a TT though......
