Hi everyone, just got 93 tt auto in silver & love it!!

I want to make some modifications to it, (it already has sports exhaust) Just trying to find out what are the good ones to fit?

I only want to spend about £1k & dont want nothing to heavy that might damage the engine through overstress i.e. chipping.

Thought about things like turbo timer, extra fans, air filter or any other options.

Anyone got a good combination especialy as i like it to sound nice.

Also live in portsmouth area anyone know any good mechanics/dealers

:)

probably exhaust induction and turbo timer, maybe a gauge pod and some pods

that shouldn't give you much change from a grand

A good induction will give a little performance gain and will will make the sound a little beefier.

YOu could also decat your exhauts but it is possible it will cause your turbos to leak after a period of time. This upgrade will make the sound of the exhaust deeper and will make your turbos spin up quicker.

Thanks i will start looking into it.

Know of any good 300 ZX mechanics/garages in my area (portsmouth)

Induction kit is the first goody to add.

Polyurethane bushes will make it steer and ride better.

Nice set of alloy wheels, say 18" - won't make it faster but

more wheel = less tyre = better to look at.

Turbo timer waste of money, just drive the last mile or so

without blasting the turbos.

Oil pressure and water temp gauges useful.

You may well find that your target spend will be

exceeded if you keep attending this site and

seeing what other folks do.

;) ;)

btw 'exhaust induction' makes no sense.

ps keep your eye on oil level and change it at 3000/4000 miles;

use only top quality oil.

use your imagination and input punctuation at your pleasure :P

and a good set of wheels and tyres for under 1k makes no sense either when you want a multitude of mods :p

Hello Mate,

Intake kit Apexi £80sih

Chip, safest one is the JWT which you can very similiar ones for £100-500, shouldn't cause any engine problems!

Boost upgrade, you can go the welding tip route/boost jet route or buy a boost controller for £150ish

Get a very good comprehensive service to ensure your car can handle these upgrades! Make sure your brakes get bled and serviced properly! You will need them, if you have £500 left get the Skyline R33 Upgrade!

Why?

No, really, serious question.

If you want to change it, first you have to decide what is wrong with it. Otherwise how will you know what to change?

Sorry i mean modifacations that dont mean just more power (although that would be nice as well)but things that look after the engine i.e. cooler oil & intercooler.

I think power wise its ok untill i save a bit more money.

Ah - nice one. Looking after the engine is damn fine idea.

Is it import or UK?

If it is import, you can add an oil cooler for the autobox which will improve things. Having a look through http://www.300zx.org.uk should bring up some tips.

Better gauges help you see what is happening under the bonnet.

Cheers - Gio

Yes the car is import.

As you seem to know a bit, what do you think to look after the engine, extra fans ? what is intercooler & are they worth fitting?

The engine is already maxed out with fans, I suggest you join the Koyo Radiator group buy as this is about the only way to cool the engine more effectively on a Zed! £230

If the only mod you have done to your car is an exhaust, then getting intercoolers may be a bit of an expensive luxury, some people would argue they are neccessary when you increase the boost from stock! £600 upwards!

On a turbocharged car the the turbos increase the heat of the air entering your engine, this is not desirable as it can mean the air fuel mixture can ignite in an unpredictable way, called detonation, which can destroy your engine!

Intercoolers act as the radiator does for your water it cools the air entering the engine hopefully reducing the chance of detonation!

also can you tell me what milage the timing belt needs changing as mine has done 79,000 km?

Loads of useful tech. info here:

http://www.twinturbo.net/ttnettech/tech.aspx

Oil cooler for autobox good idea.

No need to change intercoolers at this stage.

Water temperature gauge and oil pressure gauge

will give you essential information.

How hard are going use your car?

Shell Optimax is good for your engine.

Keep the oil topped up and regularly changed

as noted b4.

BTW timing belts should be changed every 45000 miles!

If you look at the courtesey website, there is a comprehensive timing belt changing kit, it is expensive but it has most things you will need to change the timing belt and safeguard your engines reliability!

In terms of gauges, water temp and boost pressure are the two most needed IMO, oil pressure is not really an issue! The stock Nissan Oil pressure sender is not a reliable unit which is a relief because the bearings are not a major concern!

There are many high BHP Z's built on the stock Nissan bottom end, with no problems!

Other gauges might be oil temp, egr but aggro to fit, Air fuel ratio gauge, a safeguard to show lean running which is a precursor to detonation!

Thanks for that

I will be getting all that done, just need to know what is this "courtesey website" you are on about as i cant seem to find a dealer that will get me the bits to service it as it is an import.

I am new to this site & still finding my way about.
