Has anyone ever used one of these? Or is it not really worth it considering you can use different jet sizes?

Cheers.

Define manual boost controller. You talking about an electronic one? Or the ones with an adjusting screw which changes the waste gate settings?

I *think* hes talking about a bleed valve which u actually mount in the car with alot of tubing, in other words, utter pants.

  • Author

No, no tubing out of the engine bay.

I had one on my previous car, a Saab turbo. You could set the level of max boost.

Just wondered if anyone had any knowledge of it being used on a Z.

Would prefer a nice electronic one, however, the respray means I would be waiting a while ;)

Actually, the more I think about it. The more I want to wait for the money to come back in for a nice, new, console fitted electronic boost controller. :)

I dont think Im going to go fiddling around with an engine this expensive to rebuild ;)

I dont know of any people who use them on here. The turbos are hard to get to so adjusting it would mean getting under the car. I think boost jets would be better personally.

IMHO that's your best bet; at least you'll be guaranteed a safe, stable level of boost,

Dave

The link you posted is a bleed valve, i have one on my rover turbo. Horrible piece of kit, admittedly that one looks better than mine though. Get nasty boost spikes and even different boost at different temps.

Electronic controllers are obviously best but i believe boost jets are ok, i think a few people here use them.

I'm going to put my hks evc III up on the forsale soon but i'll probably be asking a couple of ponies for it.

Also do you have a needed chipped ecu to go with the boost increase? Very important.

  • Author

Modified ECU is in place :)

And yep, going to go for a nice new box of tricks when I can. :D
