I have a leak of some sort - too dark now to look closely. But it is about 3/4 the way back of the car, right in the middle.

Any ideas?

Nooo, not yet. Done a search on this forum and wonder if it's a leak from the diff.

Am off to Zedworld on Weds anyway, so will give Jeff a heads up on it.

If it is a seal or something, anyone know if it's cheap (ish) to do?

Jeff'll sort you out, just take it slow till then.

It could be something leaking from more up front and going along the body/exhaust till it comes off the car, do you park on a sloped drive at all.

An easy way to get a look under it withount jacking it is to park half on and off a kerb put a suitably sized bit of wood under each wheel anddrive on to them (im dead scared of dropping a ton and a half of zed on me off a jack!!) then find a kid playing in the street and slide yourself under there!

Best of luck

Had a look this morning, and the fluid is like clean, cold engine oil, light brown and quite thick.

Any further ideas chaps/ chapesses?

UK car has the diff oil cooler. Can be same old problem with rubber hoses going hard. Mine had a leak from the pipework connections up near the cooler. Watch for that as a good 90mph plus run will get the temp up enough to turn on the pump and nearly empty your diff of oil. Always some left though they thought of that and didnt put the pickup pipe too deep in the diff. Mine needed nearly a litre to top it back up.

The cooler is on the drivers side of the diff but the pipework runs back and along the rear valence inside before going up to the cooler.

The description u've given definately describes geabox oil, so theres probably a leak on the diff.

Thanks Chaps - I've been away for a couple of weeks so haven't seen the replies.

Jeff's had a look and yep - it's the front seal on the diff. Srry to sound like a real novice - which I am, but where do you fill it up?
