Simple question, I hope!!

My handbrake comes almost upto vertical when i pull it on (it works fine) and I just want to adjust it to 3-4clicks. Anyone know how to do it and how easy/hard is it????

Take your back wheels off, normal jacking precautions etc ;) and there should be a small rubber gromit thing (without a hole) in the centre of the disc/hub.

 

Remove that with a screwdriver. Turn the hub (using a socket bar or something between the bolts) and you'll see some teeth of a cog through the hole.

 

This is the adjuster, spin it using the screwdriver until it stops (cant remember which way but it'll become obvious) then back a touch.

 

Do this both sides ;)

Oh BTW is that with hand brake on or off. Excuse my dimness but it's all new to me...:confused: hehehe

Before you start pulling anything off, it could be as easy as just adjusting the screw that is located below the handbrake it self. All you need to do is just unclip the press stud on the leather and then use a long reach 10mm socket and 8" extension, check that the adjuster is fully tighened.

 

Obviously make sure that the handbrake is not fully lifted when doing this.

 

Also bear in mind that your handbrake cable might be stretched. Mine is! However, they are not the cheapest of things to buy.

Neutral gear too so you can turn the hub (I think, waiting for confirmation....), just do it on level ground with chocks lol!
