What offset and Hub size is recommended for a UK TT? I've bitten the bullet and i'm going for a new set of alloys but the 3 places i've contacted have given me 3 different sets of info.

I want 17 inch wheels to fit 225 front tyres and 265 rear cos i've already bought them before the wheels:D

Thanks,

Stuart.

Hi Stu

Have you not tries westgate tyres yet??

Graham is usually pretty good

I would have thought either 7.5 inch fronts and 8 or 8.5 inch rears would be fine.

The 18" alloys i had on my last zed were all 8" and they had 235's on the front and 265's on the back but when i got it it had 225's all round

i'm ok on that bit. Its just they were on about the zed has a 112 hub size and the wheels have 114 hub size:confused:

Also some have said 35mm offest and others have said 40mm offset?is it that important?

Thanks,

Stuart

the offset is important cos if you get it wron the wheels wont fit

You need to measure between the nuts to get the correct offset, i think!!! please check this before buying as i'm not 100%

But

I'm sure someone on here will correct me if i'm wrong!!;)

Cheers

oh!!!!!!!!! I thought that if you put a 5mm spacer plate on the wheel its the same as getting a 35 offset instead of a 40?.......or am i just on a different planet completly????????????????:D

Hey dont put your self down it maybe me on a different planet!!:D

The PCD for the zed is 114.3mm i.e measured diagonally from one stud to another. The hole in the centre of the wheel needs to be 65mm (I think but you can measure that anyway), and the offset is I think 35mm, this is stated in the back of the zed handbook!:D ;)

The offset needed changes as the wheel gets wider though

alright so i'm stupid  :p :D

I'm not blonde but i'm married to one does that count?

Std offset is 45 front and 35 rear; wider wheels need less.

To do with keeping the centre line of the wheel over the bearing.
