General running around 22/23 mpg, medium distance runs >20 mile 25mpg+, long runs 30.5mpg if driving like a granny. The car is a 2+2TT auto import (1990).

my '91 TT manual does about 18/20 in town (about 240 on full tank)

or about 25 on motorway at steady 80mph/3000rpm (about 300 on full tank)

Nexus.. 30mpg like a granny ? what ?

define drive like a granny ? and then sell your car for knowing how to do it :) shame on you...

Heck it was better than running out of petrol during the blockades, I wanted to get home. Even so I was doing 78MPH on the motorway and still got just over 30mpg (I did cheat and turn off the air con.

Nice one thats what i kinda figured,at what

revs do the turbos kick in and can they be controlled in any way i.e later rather than earlier???.

thanks Pete

Turbos will spin at almost all revs but you'll feel them hit around 2,500ish. You can control them using the factory BMTCL (bulkhead mounted turbo control lever). I've also heard the BMTCL referred to as an accelerator !

Do the turbos put out much sound..?

At the moment I've got a Pug 306 turbo diesel, which has a pretty noisy blower that whistles like mad when it comes in (I've since learnt this probably isn't a good sign - though the car has done this for the 4 years I've had it!). When I test drove the 300 I'm after, I can't remember hearing anything at all.

Raz,

I have a 91 TT import-, I never hear the turbos but I feel them kick in..

thanks for all the info guys,i gonna go for

a manual TT poss a 92/93.

wish me happy hunting.

on my trip through europe not driving to slowly ie up to 120 mph every now and then i was gettin about 310 mpg and i think i could have got more,

my turbos come in at around 4200 rpm

good luck

310 MPG were you being towed :)

Finally got the Zed back from Petrol short manchester. Having driven up in a 1.25 Fiesta it was nice to go home in a 3.0 missile. Aren't small cars dangerous, especially if your used to putting your foot down and getting some sort of response! Christ a few close calls!

I also have 2 new 35W in the back and a nice JVC 12 Stack complete with Radio!!!!!! The first time I had the radio on in my car in 3 years!!!!

I celebrated on the way home by trying out some big Tiff style power slides in an empty car park. I missed Slides sooooo bad!!!!
