Can anyone help.....

I have just aquired an E reg 300zx auto. It has been standing for a while and the previous owner gave up on it. The problem seems to be that the engine will not run for long periods of time. It starts up OK but will not rev and eventually dies. I have discovered that by disconecting the air flow meter it wil idle but still no revs.

Any advice gratefully accepted

thanks

Is this a Z32 or Z32? Is your car round like the one in the pic above your name or more square. The Z32 (The one in the pic) only came out in 1989 but a few are on E reg. But not many,

That'll be a Z31.

Sounds like fuel starvation. Check filter, pump, lines.

Air and spark other things to check.

Check the Auxilliary air valve - I assume it has got one as its injection?

When these dont work - they can fire up and then die as its not letting extra air into the system - but the car would run fine when fully warm......Just a guess of course.
