Has anyone ever fitted a new Nissan bushing to the tension rod ?

I understand its a hell of an interference fit, and requires a heavy duty press. I was wondering if warming the tension rod end (not to hot to damage the seal or silicon in the bush) and freezing the bush might make allow it to be installed using a hefty bench vise.

Thanks

Never fitted new Nissan bushes in, but taken loads out using my 10 ton press, and most of them take at least 5 to 6 tons of pressure to get them to break free but after that is more like 3 tons to drive out, not sure if that helps you fully but may give you some idea of how tight they fit.

Thanks Jeff,

I guess I will have to look around for an engineering firm in Derby to press it out and fit the new one.

Most garages 'should' be able to do it.

My mate pushed mine out for me, he said it took 7 tons also.
