I need to add some guages especially for showing the boost. What make guages do people use - some recommendations please?

Thanks,

Geoff.

Autometer. They are the best... What you want is boost, oil pressure and water temperature gauges.

Thanks Clarkey - from where can I get them?

Geoff.

they are the official dealer for the UK, but maybe one of our resident traders can source them.

Autometer for me too, true competition gauges at good prices;)

Thanks, what sizes are the autometer guages. Will they fit into the Z centre A pillar pod thing? And what approx are the prices?

Geoff.

Iv got greddy gauges.

Iv read quite alot of reviews about them and they always say the seem to give the best and most accurate reading out of all the major brands who do gauges.

But i havent tried autometer so i can really compare.

hope that helps.

I'm also looking for a nice big boost meter to go somewhere on the top of the dash.

Does anyone know if there's a decent sized dial meter out there?

I bought my car with Splitfires already on the A-pillar - appear to do the job and the Splitfire and the AVC-R generally agree on boost values (er, once you've done the math. :) )

If you're thinking of buying a boost controller that will give you a digital display anyway!

I was thinking of adding a boost controller, but all the advice I have been given leans towards fitting a boost gauge first.

I'm struggling with the logic, because most gauges only give real time display, and I'd sooner be looking at the road during moments of peak boost! This means there's an issue of where to put the boost guage so it's close to the 'normal' line of vision. Hence the 'Fast and Furious' OTT A pillar installs that look a bit too much Boy Racer for my taste!

Surely the electronic controllers will give readouts of peak boost etc once you've pulled over to look at the data?

nigel, how do you know you are running 15 psi without either a boost gauge or a boost controller?

:D :D

good question!

I bought the car with bleed valves already fitted by an outfit who have a rolling road. The owner gave me a printout of the settings after the mod.

After quite a bit of reluctant soul searching, I have just had the bleed valves removed (quite a loss in boost I can tell you!) for safety. (Eveyone told me that I might get serious fluctuations in boost with the bleed valve set up).

So now I want to monitor the boost (probably with a simple boost gauge) and plan to add a controller as the next major purchase.

if you can make it to mascrat manor tomorrow night for the jap car meet, you can see my nice new shiney boost controller

Whos going Mascot tomorrow? Was the last one any good? I may come up.,

Stuart

last time it was me, adam, dave w, graham s, and baz. (sorry if ive forgotten anyone) and all the other japcar owners

Who's planning on going this time? I may go if there are a few of us.

I take my camera there too.

Stuart

me and adam for deffo

What time are you going to be there?

I have some new bits of my own to show off!

around half 6/ seven is around the normal time i think

I'd have to come straight from work then.

Depends what time I get finished, but I should be able to make it.

I bumped into a couple of zed owners on Saturday (at the garage) and there was talk of a meet in Bolton. S'pose we should move this thread though, now that you've hijacked it!

:D

Boost gauge, Water temp gauge, Oil temp gauge!

The oil pressure is not usually a problem with 300!

Autuometer are reasonably priced, but Defi look and are the Dogs Danglies! But you will pay £500 for Defi:(
