i have just bought some 18" wheels and only just noticed that all 4 of them are 10" wide. i have 275/35 tyres on rear. and 235/40 on front. i was wondering what the widest tyre i could have on the front would be without causing arch probs

You sure about all being 10" wide. I have 235X 40 on my 8.5" fronts and they look like you couldnt use a wider wheel with that tyre size without overstretching the sidewalls. Plus there is only about a half inch max clearance with the arches on full lock as is.

 

Got 265 at the back on 10" and again it looks like the narrowest tyre you could use at that rim width.

Lee - I have Skyline R33 alloys on mine and I have 245s on the front and 255s on the back.

 

245s are ok on the front but I wouldn't go any wider because you will start fauling the splastic.

I've got 9x18's all round with 235/40's front and 265/35's rear so you could go wider on 10" rims but you'd be risking scrubbage if that's a word.

on 10 inch, max 295 rears, as for fronts 255 max,to much tram lineing otherwise,plus camber proplems,could be wrong:D

235 tyre won't fit correctly on 10" rims

 

as 10" = 254mm!

 

You are likely to upset steering geometry beyond

235 front.

 

275 rear is fine and sits nicely on 10" - should

help to stop your back braking away at roundabouts......

it is definetly a 10" rim on the front and has a 235 tyre fitted. it looks like it fits ok. but i would rather a wider one, so might go for a 255
