Do you dislike anything about the 300ZX as in design etc. Reliability doesn't count ;)

I don't like:

- The tweed bits on the interior

- The dim headlights

- All the rubber seals on show when the t-bars are off

- The feebleness of the gumph behind the centre console

The stock front splitter annoys me cos I kick it all the time when messing in the engine bay but I wouldn't change it ;)

Pete ;)

This and the other door gripe: the windows that rattle if opening / closing doors with them down.

My main gripes stem from the shortarse Japanese cockpit (I'm six foot):

No reach-and-rake so I find the steering wheel too low / close to knees unless I have the seat way back. Fine on the motorway, but you can't do any hard B-road driving sat like that with your arms straight and your left leg ramrod straight when you've got the clutch dipped.

Feels a bit cramped with the roof on, although the glass helps - head doesn't actually touch the ceiling but it feels like it will, and this also means the sunshades are down way too low. Feel like Skywalker in the Death Star tunnel when I've got the sunshades down.

Steering wheel in line of sight for top of speedo/rev counter. (Althought I do like the way 100mph is needle almost vertical, very psychologically satisfying. :-) )

Similarly the shallow rake of the A-pillar means I can't see the top half of the bottom pod (boost) because it's obscured by the pod above (oil p) but at the moment I'm WAY more interested in oil and water than boost anyway. :-(

On the subject of gauges, the accuracy of the stock gauges STILL bugs me even though I have Splitfires on the A.

My tyres go off-pressure very quickly - guess that's just a low-profile tyre thing though - and the handling seems VERY sensitive to the pressure.

I like having the indicator stalk that side...

I -don't- like having the petrol cap on the nearside. I always forget!

They probably spent a long time making the lights as good as they are!!

When they first designed it, it was probably as effective as lighting a candle and hanging it in the front bumper.

They were obviously designed for esthetics rather than practicality. After all, they are used on the Diablos.

full beam is great though..

Its Dip... Its about as useful as a chocolate fireguard.

That's weird that you guys think the lights are dim. I have a 1992 Jap version and the lights are fantastic. I have absolutely no complaints about my Z. Oh well there is one, the tire hop when I accelerate to fast. Thats about it though. :D

if you're getting tyre hop when you accelerate hard check you rear shocks...

eh?? even my full beam's like a really cr*p dip!!! I actually have to drive long ways home, just to keep to well - lit streets!!

I hate the way the wipers insist on doing another wipe when you turn the bloody things off    I turned them off because I don't want them to wipe any more... FFS..

Not just your car - they do that because they 'park' lower down the screen than the lowest point they sweep when they're on.. (Don't ask me why they don't simply park at the lowest point the first time they get to the bottom though... :))

Your mum just said that would explain the state of your pants that she has to wash. :D :p

my does a reverse wipe too sometimes!!!

I.e. changes direction

Just thought of another one.........the reverse 'beep' on my Jap auto........I always get asked "wtf is that?"

WTF is it anyway????? Is/was there some sort of law in Japan that forced the installation of these fookin things?

1 The leaky targas

2 No direction airflow on s1

3 stupid seatbelt position

4 reverse beep

5 targa shades falling on me head lol

LMFAO

But apart from all of the above, these cars are brill.

Ok here goes

1.shitty brakes

2.extreme heat from engine

3.anything which is american styled

4.mechanically diffucult to work on

5.shitty nissan aftersales for parts

6. and shitty renault 5s that think they can really beat a zed but then thats not the zeds fault its just got a come fu*k with me and find out look 2 it.

BUT I STILL LOVE THEM :D :D :D

The fiddly air vents that are impossible to get in the direction you want.

The fact that I have not had mine for weeks...new seats and rear spoiler being fitted.

Its about my luck that we have two heatwaves in one year and I didn`t get to drive my Zed roofless in either of em. BUG*ER!

I really did not like that!

Zevans, you do realise that your seat goes up and down don't you???

I'm 6'3" and I've got loads of headroom!!

  • Author

Yeah thats what I was gonna say, I'm 6'2 and the zed is great compared to other cars I've driven :)

I think theres loadsa headroom in the Zed!!

Mind you i'm 5'9!!!!

I think the air vents are a pain! How do you make them come out of where you want.... it seems totally random
