Hello folks,

Is it possible to inspect the rear turbo seals whilst the turbos are still fitted to the car? If they are going would you normally see evidence of oil leaks from a visual inspection from underneath the car?

I should really get my zed on a set of ramps anyway and have a good look underneath.

Cheers.

Martin.

I think the only way is to look at your turbos and see if they are damp with oil at all.

no, regardless of any external leaks on the turbo, you cant check the rear seal without dismantling. & theres no seal as such to replace anyway - it would just be wear in the turbo casing/shaft itself

I think the turbos have to be dismantled and off the car to check the seals, it is an internal compnent of the turbo and then I think it has to be completed by a turbo specialist!

Checking for excess oil residue in the back of the turbo where it connects to the turbo short downpipe is the best you can do, not to difficult usually.
