In case anyone wishes to replace their poor quality H3C jap bulbs with PIAA brighter bulbs, the following UK link may be of help as they stock H3C thus eliminating the soldering mod needed with H3 bulbs though little more expensive than H3.

H3c's in super white and plasma only though

Tell me, deciced to mod to H3 and bought the super plasma instead.... Just as much but closest to HID if not stronger..

On Ebay, (assuming USA site) do the American bulbs fit the jap imports ?

Also, I see all this discussion about the dipped beam bulbs, what about the high beam bulbs ? Is it the same problem of 1 terminal versus 2 terminals ?

Thanks

John

When previously looking at the American bulbs on ebay and web sites in the states, ie PIAA.com, the bulbs are still H3 and not H3C.

Regards the main beam, I believe these are std H1... on imports

Hope this helps

I just got this email, a reply to a request I made (ages ago  ) about prices for bulbs...

Dear Peter

According to our records this should be a 472 (H4) bulb.

Do you just want an ordinary bulb (1.80 ea) as we also do this in White/Blue (gas discharge look alike) £12.75 per pair. Or a 30% brighter (12.75 per pair). These prices do not include VAT or postage. Payment can be by card or cheque.

Regards

H4?

PIAA do H3c bulbs 85w (55w draw) for dipped beam available from PIAA stockists at http://www.PIAA.co.uk.

I have super whites, but they are expensive at £26 +vat each.

Mains are H1 suggest you get phillips or similar 100w ok (draw 60w i think)

Fogs are H3 again use philips or similar, use 55w + 30% output = 72w, nice and bright when used with dipped.

You just need to change standard spade connector on new bulb to push ball type.

I have been running the above on these dark nights with no problems so far!

From Ray, may help

If you find cheaper H3C in the USA be warned, as I did. They cost about £8 each took about 7 days, but.......they did not work!!!

Sent them back and they sent new ones these worked for about two minutes then blew!

Obviously did not travel well, although overall packaging appeared OK, the bulbs could still move around in their little individual boxs.

Anyway I did moan by E mail and did give me a refund.

But not worth the hassle, just cough up the £££ for the PIAA ones and just plug and play.
