Got a problem with moderate levels of vibration in my new zed. Seems to be rev related, between 3 & 4k. Previous owner informs me that drift shaft barings have been replaced. From searching here it seems to be gear box mounts and drive shaft balancing are likely candidates. Is there anything else to look at? Any top tips on diagnosing problems like this or a best order to attack the likely causes?

Cheers

Most likely culprits are probably wheel balance, propshaft centre bearing, gearbox rear support - in that order. Propshaft balance is not something that changes unless it gets messed with ...

only when driving. The engine sounds smooth as a smooth thing when I just rev it :)

I've never driven a manual zed before but it feels to me that the stick kicks quite a lot when I release the clutch. Don't know if thats normal but I suspect that may indicate gearbox support too. think that will be the first thing I look at when I get back from my hols.

propshaft centre support bearing will probably be rogered and needing changed if not already done and maybe the gearbox mounting as well.

Its the rubber parts that perish with age and heat from exhausts and transmission.

cheers folks. I'm off on holiday for a couple of weeks now which is really frustrating having just got a new car!! sounds like I best not spend too much dosh while I'm away.

I assume this is the sort of work any competent garages/mechanics can undertake or do I need to seek out specialists?

cheers
