I think I've worked out how to set the higher boost setting (with help), but I'm wondering if I can set the other setting so I get no boost (I'm thinking of bad weather/snow/ice)

you should have a look at the instructions!! just words and arrows and then there's probably something in there saying "we cannot be held resposible for blowing the shit out of your engine" and you know it'll be in Japanese or something!!

Thanks for taking the piss!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vijay

Just turn it off...lol

no seriously..what most people do on a stock Z is:

setting A = ~ 0.85 kg/cm2

setting B = 1.05 kg/cm2

off = ~ 0.42 kg/cm2 = no boost (or actually a little under safetyboost.)

You can not set it so you get no boost at all...unless you rip off one or both turbo's

Eric,

Is it perfectly safe to leave it in setting B and drive around as normal, or do people leave it setting A and change when they need a higher boost? I'm just paranoid about doing any damage.

Cheers

If i turn my boost controller of i get.6bar which is what i tend to use most of the time anyway, then when i want i have a setting for .8 bar, i find that it is pointless at having more than two settigns, cause i cant be bothered to turn it up to .8 if i can run it at 1.bar lol, so i use two settings, off and high.

Vijay, if you have set setting B to 1.05 then I wouldn't recommend at all to have it at this setting all the time.

The thing is: by using a boostcontroller, you are bypassing safetyboost.

and the car needs to be in safetyboost:

A: when engine is still cold

B: when the ECU detects detonation or temperature sensor error

My boostcontroller has 4 settings + off, but

I have the boostcontroller off most of the time (max boost = ~0.45kg/cm)

I only switch it on when I want to have some serious action..lol

and only when my engine is heated up properly and only when I have 98 octane fuel in the tank

Hi,

I have my controller configured for max boost all the time... that's max safe boost without any heat/detination problems... personally I don't see the need to have high and low settings, that's what my right foot is for, each to their own huh.

Anyhow, what I would reccomend is at least experimenting with the feed-back. try setting 3, you may find you can achieve a higher boost (if you want it), but more importantly a more stable boost, especailly if you removed that cat. You may also want to turn off the auto learn so you configure the duty and boost, not your particular driving style that day - or the temprature that day.
