Hi i have just bought a 300zx Jap import on a N reg with 30k on it, but there a small problem. I am 22 been driving for 4yrs with 1 yrs NCB and have DR10, LC20 and IN10 which i committed when i first started driving. I have had no luck on insurance, can someone help ?

1st bit of advice;

 

Check insurance out before you buy the car.

 

2nd bit of advice;

 

If possible pass 25 before buying a Z.

 

3rd bit of advice;

 

Use a mobile that is free calls after 7pm and free on weekends!

 

4th and final....;

 

Shop around with all insurance company's, best of bestest luck to you, imports are a nightmare to insure with a spotless license.

I'm in a similar position - 23yrs old, driving for 6 years, 2yrs NCB (damned company cars!), clean licence, and my quote from Tescos Direct was about £1750 for TPF&T cover and £2500 for fully comp on a G reg 300zx...

 

Have a look at this post, and ring 'em all.. Also - try and get a copy of Banzai magazine and ring *every* insurer in the back, is the best advice I can give..

Oh yeah - and I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that I'll end up getting a UK spec Zed.. Insurance is half the price and twice as easy to come by..

I have a UK Z, far, far, far less to insure;

 

£443.52p Fully Comp, £150 excess.

 

Great audio cover and windscreen.

 

Don't want to upset you but the company I am with do not cover Jap imports anymore.

 

I'm afriad chaps UK is the way it's going with regard to insurance.

Im 29 10yrs driving full no claims protected with a 1994 twin import i have 3 points and my wife 6 points and we pay £1500 this years as we had a claim so if you can get insured with those endorsements and your age your bloody good mate coz i spent weeks trying to get someone to take me.

Import Japanese cars are becoming public enemy no.1, or will be soon if Quentin Wilson and co. get their way. How long B4 it's made a criminal offence to own and drive a grey import.I'm sure Gordon Brown would love to tax us out of our cars also, that's if the insurance companies, both British and Japanese don't get us first!

Firebond use to be very cheep, but i don't think they do imports any more.

It wasn't possible for me, as could not be arsed waiting 5 years. I went with Firebond and it was £1300 TPF&T. 20 years old, 3 years NCB, no points or convictions (yet). but then again it's a UK so that helps a bit.

But give you a classic example me ole mate! Phoned Hill House Hammond in Stevenage where I work...£850 for me Captain Kirk(Merc for you not in the art of Cock-a-nese! LOL!) then play the game with the Hill House Hammond people in Llandudno where I LIVE! £430(ish)...car insurance is the best laugh on the planet...just learn to play the game and believe me...you will be the winner every time!
