As we've all seen the previous posts on front end braking shake, mine aswell. I still can't solve my cars.

I've had 4 wheel laser alignment, discs skimmed (both sides at once)! wheels checked,

And today had the hubs & discs clocked on the car, pads 8-9mm on and re-champerd.

All is ok, but the cars still very eratic under long bracking 70 down to 30 or so.

When I have to stop quicker its fine!

Could it be the 2" ish rubber bush on the brace arm worn, making the wheels tuck in or out under braking. Or any of the steering bushes wearing that would cause this.

Its getting expensive having work done with no result, and I'm running out of ideas.

Need help guys Silverstones coming up ;-)

i've seen the front tie rods mentioned for this problem before

get under and check the bushes for these, see if they are leaking the gooey grey silicone...

i had mine replaced a couple of years ago, and i'm positive the mechanic said that they could cause that...

Cheers, off to garage.

hmmm now another thing for me to check, go to bed craig your keeping me up

Harve,

I have this problem really bad and i've had my disks skimmed with no improvement.

By co-incidence my Z failed the MOT last week for the Tie Bar bushes.

These are not available on their own from Nissan - you have to buy a pair of Tie Bars at £228.00!!

Give Luke a call at the Z Centre, they have uprated polyurethane bushes for £43.00 inc p&p

Courtesy Nissan have them too but they are quite hefty things about the size of a tennis ball each so the delivery will cost a bit.

I'm getting them fitted on friday so i'll let you know the results.

When I first bought my Z they had the discs skimmed because it was shaking under heavy braking, but it was still the same so they changed them and that solved the problem.

Mine had brand new discs on it because during the test drive I pointed out that the existing ones warped. About 3-4 weeks later the new ones warped and I had them skimmed. They lasted about 20K before needing replacement.

Don't bother with the crappy stock Nissan units. Upgrade to the Energy Suspension urethane bushing ($35 US dollars/pair) or go with a adjustable tension rod with a metal bushing.

The stock tension rod bushing generally starts failing at around 75,000 miles. The reason is because most of the load is placed on this bushing when the vehicle is braking, so once these start to wear there is the brake shimmy which makes people believe that the rotor is the culprit.

Phuong - EatRiceZone.com

My Z is having it's Energy Suspension Polyurethane bushes fitted as we speak/type.

I'll let you know if the brakes have improved tonight.

...further to Phuong's post...as he correctly stated on another, check that your wheel nuts are torqued to the correct settings and that the nuts are tightened up opposite to opposite...if you know what I mean! Damn those Shit Fit fitters with their air tools! LMAO!

I have a theory that HICAS actually amplifies the effects of warped discs. It detects the steering input as it shakes and does the bad wheel steer thing. You'd come off a slip road and get the snakes. I had it bad when the car hadnt been used a while and the discs had some rust on them. Especially the rear surface of one front disc and the're all new discs. A few hundred fast moway miles seems to have polished them up with no more shakes. Although I still have a rusty band on the inside side of one front disc yet pads and pistons free enough.

There's a load of guff on tt.net about this problem and once you've erradicated the easy stuff it usually seems down to tenson rods.

Guys,

The tie rod bushes, are coverd in wrinkly skin type cracks, and with car up on blocks hubs a dangling. The bushes are hanging out of the housing about 1/4" or so.

Could this be the culprit! I bloody hope so.

How long has anyones orders taken to arrive from Courtesy Nissan, as its so bad the Z is off the road. 1 year & 1 day after I bought it.

harve.

The bushes have made a massive improvement!

There is still a slight shimmy caused by the obviously warped disks (which i've had skimmed) but it doesn't turn into the massive shakes that it used to.

This explains why I didn't have any problems at low speed round town but on long high speed braking the wheels are getting into some sort of oscillating rythmn!

The bushes are $35.00 plus shipping from Courtesy or £43.00 inc shipping from Luke at the Z Centre where I got 'em.

If you have severe shaking where the wheel nearly pulls out your hands like I did then try these, must be worth a go for the price.

Thanks guys,

Once again the forum answers all.

harve.
