ok you asked for it here goeas

 

well i had just baught my car and was rather chuffed, after reading an article about a 300zx tt that was serviced by silvia i thaught ok here we go .

i did not know anything about my car except it was the best car i had driven, so i phone silvia and they sound really good,

so i go there, and it begins, they see me comming from a mile.

i ask them if the car is modified in anyway as it was running over 1 bar boost. the reponce i got,

" WELL SOMETHING IS REALLY WRONG HERE AS YOU HAVE A STANDERD ECU AND IT SHOULD NOT BOOST THAT MUCH " they said they checked the ecu.

they then told me my car was detonating so bad that if i did not do there boost conversion to lower the boost!! that i would blow my engine before i got home. so panic stricken i do the boost thing at a price of £260 to lower my boost, i was then told i had HKS TURBOS (they told me it said so on the covers of the turbos) i was chuffed, they then did the speed delimiter and converted my speedo (put a litle mph sticker over the kilometre sticker) and charged me ......£220 (can you believe im this stupid) well i left there not to happy at spending that money but i thaught i had to have it done,

now the funny bit, my car has a mines ecu, it has larger turbos but with garrett logo on housing, it already had a boost controller hidden under the seat, and the car was now detonating a little,

anyway a few weeks later i get the bug to get bigger brakes so i phone silvia uo (still havent learnt my lesson) they give me the usual itll cost you £1500 for 320 mm ap racing discs, and so i go away and do my homeowrk, i phone them the next day and ask them a few moroe things and promptly get told of "those are the prices if you dont like them go somewhere else and they hang up the phone)

 

now dont tell me they arnt a complete bunch of ripoff artists after this little scenario.#

i would not use silvia if they were the last nissan dealers on the planet!!!!!

I took my car to Silvia because It was running like a bag of shit and had low boost.

I pre-warned them that the CAS was adjusted far out, Mines ECU, faulty det sensor with permenant error code 34 etc etc. Now one of my O2 sensors wasn't working either. They put in boost jets and wacked the boost upto 1 bar despite what I told them. I REALLY DID TELL THEM! They retarded the CAS as far as it would go to compensate for the detonation after their first run in the car. They fobbed me off with a story about the CAS and CAM being worn! I have found out that this is not possible. I don't need to say any more. What type of company increases the boost with all these problems??? I took the car home and it was detonating VERY badly. I called them and their response was very rude and said that it could takes weeks to find the detonation problems. They were not interested!

 

I took the car to Darren who diagnosed the problems in minutes. He found some connections that were not in the right place (this wasn't SE's fault), Timing belt not right, faulty O2 sensor etc etc.

 

I can't believe that they don't have a Nissan Consult. This is an absolute must for any Z specialist. No matter what they say the time it takes to diagnose elementary problems is enormous compared to using a Consult. They take longer and pass this cost onto the customer.

 

I am sorry to those of you that use Silvia but I would not recommend them to anyone

Before this turns into another religious war I think it is fair that people should read SE's side of the story. Look for posts from Pete R in the "I have had a bad experience" section.

 

Disclaimer:

I have nothing to do with SE other than being a satisfied customer, as are a number of other people here.

I know someone who has recently spent thousands of pounds at SE having his engine rebuilt and various mods made to the car. Although he did suffer the overdue SE trait for a few weeks of frustration, he did get his car back and was well chuffed when he did! So I will remain on the fence until I get my car back and see if there is such an improvement that I am grinning from ear-to-ear!

 

It's swings and roundabouts really, there will be those that have had a good experience and those that have had bad! For instance, I wouldn't go back to Middlehurst, couldn't care less what all the Skyline crew think about them, no way would I ever take my car there again!

 

As Andy says, some people are gonna leave a garage satisfied and some will not be. Not alot you can do really.

 

I rang SE just now and a lovely girlie answered and I managed to speak to Pete straight away. Some can never get hold of him, you need to know the secret code which was passed to me from the afore mentioned person who will remain nameless! LOL!

 

THE SPECIAL DAY! When you are 99.99 percent guaranteed to get hold of Peter!

i completely agree with andy p, i mean thats just my story you can listen if you want or get taken lol for a ride. i just choose not to deal with them cause they lied to me and if you do look at how many people are pissed at them youll see it far outweighs who has had good service with them, almost 9 times out of ten it is the person who has too much mony to spend there that gets service, or doesent bother finding out from other people, but again thats what freedom of choice is all about...

It is well known that the only feedback companies get is from customers who are unhappy - mabye it's a British thing but people expect perfection and seldom thank anyone when they get it, but they complain at length when they don't. I see a small number of people complaining about specific issues with SE, what is less visible is the number of people who are happy. SE have a lot of regular customers. Only some of whom read this forum.

 

Don't take this personally Warren but you seem to have something bad to say about most companies. Ask yourself this: Do you publicly thank the ones who gave good service ?

 

We have a good/bad experience section and we don't use it enough.Just look at the ratio of posts.

Nice to know that by Warren's logic I appear to have more money than sense as I do not have a problem with SE, they have always been helpful efficient.

ok well here goes.

i genuanlly believe that the customer service from where i come is a damn side better than anyhting in this country, the reason being you have a whole lot less people with buying power therefore you have to look after them when they enquire about buisness. now i agree that people complain more about bad experiences than they do compliment about doog experiences, yet why should a person not complain when you have spent your hard earned money and not gotten what you asked for.

at the end of the day i dont go and work to give my money away, and being a free society i feel that if i am hard done by i will tell other people,

 

now i went and spoke to pete and he appologised nadanadanada and told me he would correct all that was done, yet, when i phone there again i get exactly the same responce, and if you can tlook after the very people that put bread on your table , well then so be it. but i dont have to justify why i complain or anybody else complains if they have recieved bad service.

it is up to you as an individual to ither take the advise or choose to ignore it, but its a free world, if you did your job properly in the first place you wouldent have any coplaints and all would be dandy.....

Problems in the past and now it seems that there is a possibility SE may be responsible for engine damage to my Z that i never took to them, previous owner did though, will know more in a few days. Smithy

I just think if one person has a complained about a garage/dealer then that's bad enough. I don't belive for one minute that anyone on this forum would be be petty any complain about the simplest of things. I have never used SE, but when trying to phone them when I needed my turbo's done, I got the "well that's the price, is there anything else" attitude. I don't like spending loads of money (Not that I'm tight) and wanted to hear someone who gave a shit about my car, I certainnly didn't get that. I feel sorry for Pete, cos he seems to give a shit. Maybe he should sort out his staff as I think a hell of a lot more people would be happier. As I said I've got nothing against SE, but I've been shafted but garages once too often and don't need it again!!!!!!!!!!!1

Hi,

There's always a difference between using a garage to fit performance upgrades e.g. exhaust, brakes etc. and leaving feeling happy and satisfied...and asking them to diagnose a problem, whereby they might not know the answer, and may try to bullshit you.(Had this recently with a water leak on the family Rover).

i mean really!!! talk about some garages, i took my car in to have an exhasut fitted and they only did one side lol (now you guys even have me making fun of myself)

I'm referring to me Z beast that was not a happy bunny and had already undergone major heart surgery before arriving at SE! I meant, any significant improvement to my Z car after having speant shite loads to get it right!

 

Not only has an engine rebuild taken place, but new wiring loom, metal head gasketts(which I think Pete uses anyway), radiator etc.

 

Car was running like shite before December, heater matrix had just been done but I still had the stalling and chugging at tickover problem. Not to mention the occasional James Bond effects of smoke in the cabin and belching out from under the bonnet. So as you can see, I will be well chuffed if she comes out sweet as a nut!

Oh I miss the old 'are SE any good ?' debate !

 

Just for old times sake, I'd like to make a couple of points :

 

1) Warren, I'm not sure that you are correct in saying that 9 out of 10 people aren't happy with SE. My observations on here are that there are a limited of number of people with bad tales but that they tend to be a bit more vocal about it - something to do with the size of their tail pipes apparently !

 

2) In defence of some (but not all) garages, I have seen a number of people over the years (and I'm not just referring to this forum) giving stories along the lines of "I took my car to the garage for a new radiator and only 2 months later the rear wiper stopped working". I exaggerate intentionally but hopefully you get my drift. Every car on the road has something which is going to be the next thing to go wrong - just don't always blame the last person who touched the car. Sometimes it can be something very similar to what was worked on and yet still not be connected.

 

Everyone should find someone who they trust and then stick with that person. In my humble opinion, having found the person you trust, there is no benefit in having a pop at someone else who they don't use but someone else does trust.

oh this is all so tiring, but lets do a quick vote on thsi forum, as to how many people have actually used S.E and how many people would use them again, actually lets add the 200sx forum,

The 9/10 was not an exact thing more sarcastic, but i guess you english would not know anything about that......
