Looks like i am going to have to change the front discs as they squeal constantly. I have tried everything but looks like the visa card is going to have to appear again! At present they are Brembo R33 discs, 330mm i think? What is the largest size i can get? I think i seen somewhere about 365mm discs? I will also be changing to Porterfield pads. Are the RS4's the best?

if you can wait 6-8 weeks i am doing two more sets Brembo 330mm and a set of 365mm discs and calipers. but you will need a set of 19s for the later size. just getting the brackets made and hub ring and small mod to callipers. :D

If you mount the calipers right, 356mm will fit under 17" wheels, using AP 3720 calipers anyway Not sure of the bridge thickness on the brembos, shouldnt be too far off.

356x32mm ap discs are around the 290each mark

Yes Bazz they are;)

is there a big difference using 330mm discs with standard calipers, even though the pad contact area is the same?

To be honest I don't know for sure but I think the brakes will be the same. You are still using the same calipers and the same size brake pads so the braking area will not change.

However if we are comparing stock discs to bigger drilled or grooved discs then yes there will be a slight gain as they will take longer to fade.

Saying that I have a pair of 330mm Drilled Disks for sale :D Along with the caliper bracket ;)

how do you call right 356mm discs and calipers inside 17" wheels is a no chance ask harve. here is a pic of my 356mm discs inside 19" wheels and there is only 13mm left between caliper and inner rim.

How much are u asking for your 330mm disks, and brackets?

cheers;)

(any pics you can email)

Evidently the bridge on the brembos stick out further than the AP, as you can see in my pictures, there are 356mm inside 17" wheels.

Cheers guys,

I am going to try and get the discs replaced by the suppliers as i have been informed that there was a batch of discs that came from them that all had this squeaking fault. Bizzare or what! Im not going to hold my breath though.

Lack 300, have you tried the bigger discs under 18's? I take it that they would still fit the brembo R33 calipers that i have?

How much for a set of the 365mm or the 330mm?

Yes, a massive difference.

There are two reasons :

1) The braking is being applied further from the centre of the wheel so it is applying greater 'leverage'.

2) There is more disk having braking applied to it for each revolution of the wheel. More friction gets applied each time the wheel goes around

Not sure if these make sense - if not it's my wording that's the problem !

Dave

P.S. Both of these assume that you are moving the caliper further out - it'd be fairly pointless otherwise !

disks actually fit between the stock caliper OK, & I presume it's some sort of bracket to space the caliper close to the outer edge of the disk....

cheers Jon...;)

i am going to ring AP tomorrow as i cannot belive this till i have heard it fron the horses mouth. remember inside the wheel is a lot smaller than th 17" quoted my 19" wheels internal wall to wall measure 17.55".

ps is the owner of the lancia a fisherman. (IT WAS THIS BIG). lol.

i will appoligise tomorrow though if i am wrong.

"T"..........

the kit will come with two Brembo discs re-drilled to fit 114.3 bolt pcd as originals are 114m pcd Second hand but nearly new, two brembo 4 pot floating calipers new but faces will be painted though and original brembo logo put on. pads and carriers, brackets bolts, and hub ring. £700 for the 330mm*28mm kit or £850 for the 356mm*32mm kit. i will post as and when ready per kit. cheers "T".......

if you are unsure see them on mine at TRAX 2003

p.s. they will fit on your original pipe work but i do reccomend fitting stainless braided hose kit from johnny GPS.

sorry tony but did you manage to get sombody to make the adaptors?...or do you still want me to sort it out.......to be honest i did forget.......

yes buddy. i even forgot to reminnd you today about them when we spoke. cheers "T"........

Please do phone if you dont believe me and get the caliper dimensions AP3720, and compare them to your brembos. Also the wheel construction is different, contact speedline if you wish and get the dimensions for their mag alloy wheels

If you want to, later in the week I will go and put a tape measure over everything and take photos for you. They are 356mm discs, they are 17" wheels. AP may quote you the kit that they do for the delta - I think its a 330mm conversion, you will have to get caliper dims and work it out for yourself though.

Regards

Oh, and they may say the 3720 caliper will only work with 330mm max disc...but 356mm will work with the 3720.

So you'll have to do the maths yourself Im afraid. Ill get them tape measure pictures to you asap, would you like to send me a tape so you know it reads correctly? ;)

Just to back up what hairsy says - massive difference - greater lever arm :)
