On her first day working at the Adult Education Centre, the receptionist has to deliver an urgent message to Simon Smith in the car mechanics course – his wife has suddenly gone into labour! The receptionist rushes to the classroom of some twenty people. How does she instantly know who to give the message to even though she has never met him before and there is nothing in his physical appearance to distinguish him?

It would be rude for her to walk in and start speaking to a member of the class - so she would give the meassge to the lecturer.

 

As it's her first day, she wouldn't have met the lecturer before, but would know who he/she is.

If Simon owns a Z, then she would just need to look for the guy with the most worried look on his face because he is hoping that his Mrs will not tell him to sell it now that they have a baby!

 

But seriously, if it was me, I would just say, "Who-ever's wife is pregnant - HOLLER!!!"

All the students, bar Simon, are women and the lecturer is as well.

 

Only enlightened males would ever get this

I thought it was a car mechanics course?

 

What would any women be doing there?

Correct HIS appearance is not what matters it is the appearance of the women that gives the game away. If you had said ..

"... and there is nothing in their, (the classes) physical appearances to distinguish them" ...

then I would have to think again

Maybe they all have a badge on with their name on it as well?
