Nissan dealer is telling me I have a small leak at one of my head gaskets after replacing my water pump. They have said they will use Rad Weld to seal it. Will this work?

I think I'm just getting paranoid!!!

Check the coolant level in the RAD this morning before I set of and it's fine. Hasn't moved at all!!! Also, I have driver 100miles or so since picking her up yesterday and I made sure I drove her 'properly'. Pissing people off weaving through traffic, driving her hard AND getting stuck in tailbacks, all whilst the temp outside was 31 degrees. I think I can safely say me Head is looking well!! I will be booking a compression test later in the week.

Thank you all for your support.

Here we go again!! Same problem. She was fine for the last day or so and now there's a pool of coolant on the floor again!! Opened the bonnet to see steam coming from the front of the block and leaking onto the cambelt. Big puddle on the floor. Looks like I'll have to take it back to Nissan to check the hoses and I will ask them to check the ones under the plenum! She didn't overheat this time though. I wonder if they did replace my water pump after all?

Managed to get my car down the other garage today for a second opinion. Cooland pissing out as I got there. I described the symptoms to him and the first thing he suggested was a hose. He seems to think I would have had problems with it yesterday if it was from the gasket and as I hadn't lost any coolant at all over the past 100miles or any evidence of a leak under the car, seemed to suggest a hose.

Fingers crossed!!

You'll be furious / relieved if it was one of the by-pass hoses from the top water connector to the cylinder heads like I mentioned previously. £8 and half hour.

Thats what went on mine and any garage would first say water pump because the water looks like its coming from the water pump and water pumps can fail. The leak can be intermittent and only show when enough pressure makes the small crack in the rubber hose open up.

Small mirror, torch look either side under top ally water connector to top of engine.

maybe was never anything wrong with your water pump

Well the garage have called me back after having the car for an hour and have confirmed I have a burst hose under the aluminium housing just above the water pump!! Well there you have it. They are going to sort it out and replace any other hoses that need doing. I've spoken to Nissan about it to give them a big f u c k y o u but they are not interested. Said they only found a fault with the water pump and head gasket. Oh, and my garage also said there is nothing wrong with the head gasket, just that burst hose. They also say that the hose looked very old and that Nissan should have picked it up and changed it when replacing the pump.

The only advise Nissan can give is to look through my history and see if the water pump was replaced less than a year ago and they will refund the parts and labour under warranty, other than that, they are not willing to discuss the matter any further.

Once again, thanks for all your advise guys!

Will keep you posted.

;)

Always wanted to be able to say "I told you so" and I did - look back! Could have saved a few bob there!

At least you know your cylinder head gaskets are prolly OK.

:)
