jap diesels

may be a blindingly obvious question, but why do jap manufacturers tend not to produce diesel cars? i know there is a diesel yaris, but thats about it i think.

    corolla comes in diesel, also i think all the 4x4's come in diesel. Probably cos diesel is crap and the japs realise that.
