Hello there folks,

I think my clutch may be going. Anyideas of whats involved cost wise for replacing it. I'll probably get my local importer to do it rather than tackle it myself.

I'll try adjusting it first but if that doesn't help i'll need to get it replaced.

Cheers.

Martin.

do you mean slipping under load or difficult gear selection?

Mine has just started to slip when going hard in 3rd & 4th, time for a nice ACT or RPS me thinks........ ;)

i'm currently saving up for a new RPS clutch. i think they're about £395 from Smithy, then however much to fit it. I might have a go at fitting myself tho! Is this wise?

Cheers guys,

The clutch has only slipped once and seems to bite the rest of the time.

Just trying to get a handle on how much a replacement is going to cost both for parts and labour.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

RPS from smithy i believe is about £340?

Labour can be around £200 but in my experience would often be more as Z's are always a pain in the buttocks.

After waiting about a week for a slot at my garage, they spent 15mins on it and basically said they wouldn't be able to finish it for about a week as they needed extra parts and the easter holiday was just starting.

So instead i spent about a week solid sorting the bugger out myself! Even today i still get nightmares about it.

Not to hard to do yourself but i had some rusted stud problems which ment day's of drilling and drilling..

Yep 340 it is, i got mine done at a bog standard garage and it cost 200 quid, most customers i've sold too havn't gone to a specialist garage, personally i think it's the one job on a Zed that ain't that hard or complicated, so shop around.

cheers

I think u are right but mine was worse as on one side all 3 studs holding turbo to exhaust were slightly rusted and sheered. Bloody 'ell just thinking about that much drilling makes me feel sick.

Robtor you are so right ! I am still having knightmares now !

Snapped 3 studs myself as well ! ooh the drilling lol ! Its just not that easy to do trust me !

Olly.

Smiffy's right! its not a very hard job to do. done mine in about 4 hrs (on a ramp ;) ) including changing the flywheel (lightweight jobbie - from Smiffy) rear main seal & gearbox seal.

would have been quicker but to avoid snapping the studs I spent a bit of time warming them up to undo them. came out easy then ;)
