and they have the interior that nissan pensioned off with the 280z :D:D

Plus they all looked the bloody same on the GTO stand,i mean,no individualism,what can you do to em to make erm,like a Z !boring stand,boring car,but i too have driven one and they handle on the wet n twisty stuff,but thats it:D

And one more thing,i have never seen a GTO at the pod run a faster time than a Z,fact(unless its got NOS,unless any one knows otherwise;)

It's nice to know he's arguing from a postion of very little knowledge! :rolleyes: :D

 

OK, the one thing he got right was that a ZX doesn't have 4WD, but that's a *good* thing!

 

I've been driven in one in the wet, very fast, and they are very quick cars, but they are boring.

 

They are also large, but yet still feel quite cramped from the driver's seat.

From looking round Billing at the weekend I would say I got the following impressions:.........

 

MKIV Supra.....The ultimate Japanese super coupe! 10/10

Skyline GTR.....The ultimate Street Machine! 10/10

Mits GTO.........The ultimate posers machine! 8/10

300ZX Z32......The Japanese Capri! 7/10

Lets not forget that the Z32 came out long time before that other lot,it stayed the same up to present day,cant remember that lot having much to shout about in 1989!:D The 300zx scared the crap outa Toyota,Mitsubushi,Ford,Jaguar,etc,etc,A true Super car from Nissan,took all other manufacturers 2 years or more to bring out something that would get close to it,and even the R32 was a long way off being built,every time you see or hear," well this is faster than that,better built,better handling bla bla bla ,well maybe true,but they all were designed n built after the 300zx,mainly to compete with Nissan,who had nothing to prove by then,cos they had done it first,the Z32 has got heritage,its got classic status,it still fooks off all the rest,and its a sports car not a shopping trolley/ saloon for tesco,s,.

having looked at others round Billing i came to this conclusion,

Mits GTO,....all show no go lardy bolt on after thought wonder.

MKIV SUPRA....Still not got the looks after all those changes,a cross bred lardy ugly mother.

Skyline GTR....respect,class engine,another Nissan to crap on above,

Zed has got WAAAY more charm than the others. Supras look futuristic, GTOs look too american and are too boring but very competant, Skyline...well..the reputation say it all, 300zx, quirky looking, quirky but fun drive, a lot of technology in a small package.

 

In fact the comparison to the Capri is not far off:

Capri was a classic RWD car that pretty much changed the face of modern motoring, was more advanced at it's release than all it's rivals and by the end of it's run was an affordable "supercar for the masses".

 

A Zed actually fits the bill nicely:

Japanese Supercar, Classic looks, RWD, lot's of power, broke the mould when they made it, nothing could touch it at the time, changed the face of japanese supercars, and nowadays is the "affordable exotic supercar for the masses".

 

The RX-7 is the only other thing that comes close, and it's waaaaaaay newer: Zed got there first.

 

You can with a Nissan.

Personally... I bought a 300ZX because of it's potential. It's pretty good in standard form, but it's getting proper good now. I don't see the point of comparing standard cars to other standard cars. If you had a GTO you'd wanna leave it alone, wouldn't you?! Where are you gonna go with it?

 

If you want 4wd/4ws and help with your driving, it's got to be the Skyline every time. You could take a GTO and throw a load of weight away, and perhaps up the power, but trying to make it more like a Skyline doesn't make it a Skyline.

 

Some people like GTO looks (not me)... OK, they do stand out from the crowd, but the 300 still looks better (sleaker, meaner, faster ;) ). Biased of course.

 

I'm undecided about Supras. I like them, just not sure how much.

I think they're all pretty nice cars, personally.. But then again - I tend to like most cars on their merit..

 

After seeing the Billing pics, especially that purple Supra (with the bodykit and giant hole in the front wings..) and the Skyline pics, I think I'm actually starting to prefer the Supra and Skyline to the Z..

 

In fact, I think that Supra looked nicer than any kitted Z I've seen..

I hate to admit it....but i agree with aaron:D supras look better then kitted Z's.... they're all starting to look the same to me now:o :( :p

Zed's are just starting to look a wee bit dated, is all.

I really like the single panel across the front with the wee round headlights in that was at Billing. The wide arch black one. That really looked the nads (albeit a little like an Integra Type R).

 

I'd have a GTO, but I'd have to get my chest-wig and gold chain waxed off. Think the styling on them is awful.

 

Skylines are ugly as sin. There is no way that car can be described as "pretty". "Chunky", yes "Aggressive", yes, and perhaps good looking in a functional kind of way. But nothing will ever make it pretty.

 

Supras look modern and stylish and were ahead of their time when released, so look up-to-date and modern now.

 

RX-7s are pretty, exotic and look like they were left in the sun too long. They also manage something that none of the others do: They look "dainty" somehow. "Dainty but with f__ckin massive wheels!".

I think you're all being a bit unfair to the Mitsubishi here.

 

I, like many current Z owners, seriously considered a GTO at the time I was looking at Zeds.

 

So I went to drive one and went round a few corners. I managed to drop it into second and get some reverse lock on, fed in some power and gave it a quite decent test drive.

 

Then I thought about it for a least one or two nano seconds.

 

Then I bought a Zed - cos I'm not half as F**kin stupid as I look!

 

GTO drivers - sorry guys you lose! Bag of spanners and if you want to know what 4 wheel drive feels like, try an Audi - they're not all the same!

and who mentioned supras? be serious!

 

but anyone who wants to slag of a skyline needs to have a chat to Latz at GPS! - I always say - If you can crap on a McLaren F1 you're getting somewhere near!

I didn't mention RX7s, as although they look quite good (a bit too Japanese!), they're powered by a washing machine motor!:D

 

The 300ZX looks a 15 year old design..The Supra more like a 5 year old design! :p
